A major function of this position will be to maintain fuel levels of vehicles and equipment. Additional responsibilities include cleaning of shop areas, checks engine fluid levels, inspects belts, checks tires, picks up parts, washing and cleaning vehicles/equipment. Assist with driving vehicles to and from region locations that are scheduled for preventative maintenance (PM) annual services and repairs. Performs PM on light duty vehicles and other non technical duties as assigned by supervision. Assist technicians with PM on vehicles. Assist Commodity Service Technicians (CST’s) in parts functions, arranging, and cleaning parts room. This position will also have responsibilities for pickups and deliveries of parts and supplies from local vendors and includes delivering parts to road technicians at field locations as needed. Repair/ replace and balance tires. Perform state inspections on vehicles.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain fuel level of vehicles and equipment

  • Performs preventative maintenance on light duty vehicles. Assist technicians with PM’s and performs light duty repairs. Repair/replace and balance tires. Perform state inspections.

  • Cleaning for shop floors, emptying trash, and maintaining general housekeeping inside and around shop area.

  • Washing and cleaning of vehicles/equipment for maintenance.

  • Responsible for shuttling of vehicles and equipment. Tanker and storm fueling where applicable.

  • Assist CST’s in parts functions, picking up parts.

  • Other non technical duties as assigned by supervision.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of work related experience

  • Valid driver’s license

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience cleaning and fueling vehicles/equipment

  • Experience as garage helper or other maintenance function

  • Ability to perform minor vehicle checks

  • Ability to complete and maintain basic records (written and computer entry)

  • CDL License with HazMat endorsement

  • Basic computer skills

Job Specific Requirements:

  • Ability to perform minor vehicle checks

  • Ability to pass requirements for unescorted nuclear access

  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL license with Haz Mat endorsement within 4 months of hire date.

  • Ability to be certified to operate forklifts within 120 days

  • Ability to work shift rotation

  • Own necessary tools or equipment to perform job duties

  • Must reside within 1 hour of the work location

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent bending, stooping and lifting 50 lbs.

  • Prolonged standing

  • Garage environment with associated fumes (gasoline, diesel, solvents, exhaust fumes & dust.)

  • Inside and outside work in all seasons and weather

  • Potential shifts or rotating shifts

  • Potential shift rotation

  • Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.
