Job Summary

The Program Director manages the governance, functional and operational aspects of UNITE Program as well as supporting related cross company collaboration and project coordination. This role oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of program delivery including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities. The Program Director owns the project deliverables and in conjunction with assigned Project Team, shares day-to-day responsibility for project management, anticipating deviations and taking immediate corrective actions. The Program Director will provide leadership to ultimately ensure the adoption and sustainability of new processes and systems for UGI. This role must have appreciation for the balance of people, process, and technology to ensure a successful program outcome.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the scope and milestone delivery of multiple projects (including but not limited to EAM, Outage Management, GIS, Mobility, etc.) associated with the UNITE program and, as appropriate, the inclusion of UGI Energy Services technology roadmap. Implement and lead an effective program change control process that pro-actively identifies project changes and incorporates an appropriate impact analysis and approval for such changes across the program. Exercise management of the resources of the overall program, balancing the needs for program success with the skills, capabilities, and availability of the staff. Direct the development and maintenance of an ongoing and varied program risk management to identify, quantify and contain the occurrence and potential impact of risks and risk events.

  • Own and manage the operating budget for the Program, embodied as a compilation of multiple projects. Leverage program data compiled by the Project Principal(s) to create and maintain a monthly financial management process that incorporates actual financial performance to forecasted performance and justifies all variances; accurately forecasts expenditures in alignment with the project budget and supports the budgeting process throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures as per UGIs financial processes and policies.

  • Communicate regularly and comfortably across departments, both to individuals and the management team, in order to negotiate solutions that foster strong relationships, continued success and sustainability of the program. Direct the development of a comprehensive Communication Plan throughout Project lifecycles to key stakeholders in the organization.

  • Manage the service levels with vendors for prompt resolution and ongoing support. Evaluate software, solution, and service proposals in order to identify appropriate staffing needs and make appropriate recommendations; assisting with contract negotiations as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills at all levels; experienced as team lead and change agent, accountable for successful system implementation and results.

  • High level, broad-based understanding of information technologies, particularly enterprise-wide system architecture and solution implementation approaches and expertise.

  • Cross team functionality and communication; ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in writing with a demonstrated skill in building functioning and cohesive teams.

  • Self-directed and self-motivated.

  • Advanced project management expertise with a proven track record of achieving long term objectives and successfully managing complex projects or multi-location initiatives.

  • Applied utility operations knowledge and business acumen.

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive leader who welcomes challenges.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree with applicable Project Management experience; Masters degree preferred. Degree and/or experience should be in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related quantitative discipline.

  • Minimum 10 Years leading complex projects preferred.

  • PMP, Six Sigma preferred.
