National Grid Channel Sales Representative in Worcester, Massachusetts
_About the Position:_
Be a part of a team that will conduct any and all sales activities and generate trade alley/vendor interest in National Grid’s various energy services to include Electric and Gas EE programs in order to support the achievement of revenue and energy saving targets for the company. National Grid is looking for a Channel Sales Representative who will build trusted relationships with channel partners and deliver on assigned sales targets by maintaining strong relationships and building awareness of National Grid EE Programs and working closely with channel partners in order to meet the target goals for National Grid. In addition to this role you will act as the first point of contact for trade alley’s and vendors in order to provide information about National Grid and the available services.
_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_
Ability to operate as an individual while contributing to a deal team, the engagement between Channel Sales Rep, Distribution Centers and Trade Allies back to deal teams should be dynamic with the ability to stream line savings from the originating partnerships created in the field
Follow up on leads and develop effective relationships with current and prospective customers in order to explain and promote National Grid services for the purpose of creating interest and generating sales
Produce effective management information and reporting in order to provide insight on customers and trade alleys for more senior team members
Work with other business units in order to support the implementation of National Grid sales plans and initiatives
Independently collate and analyze sales data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to understand current sales performance against targets and improve where needed
Monitor and review financial / sales activity information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information
Build upon professional skills in the area of sales and keep up to date with developments in National Grid’s products / services in order to continually grow personal contribution to the business
Be a coordinator of ideas and functions to be brought forth for customer utilization
Manage the day to day relationship with customers and channel partners in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with National Grid policies and processes
Research primary data sources and select relevant information in order to enable analysis of sales opportunities and trends in the energy industry
Utilize established financial / sales tracking systems to track performance against budgets and highlight variances in order to manage and control specific cost variables
Follow workplace safety requirements and company ethics compliance
_Knowledge & Experience Required:_
Bachelor’s degree required in business, marketing, communications or other related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales role.
Possesses a general understanding of National Grid’s business, from a commercial perspective.
Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to apply consultation procedures and negotiation skills using visual aids, data or information to support line of reasoning.
Demonstrates a consistent approach in dealing with people and taking personal responsibility for addressing problems and concerns.
Experience of fact finding including knowledge and understanding of where to find and how to present relevant information. Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness and has the ability to investigate the situation beyond routine questioning.
Makes self fully available for the customer and/or channel partner. Demonstrates an energetic and enthusiastic manner and the ability to add value to the customer.
Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings and anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps.
