The Data Governance Manager serves as a leader and point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues. The successful candidate will work closely with Business and IT leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets across the enterprise, respond to regulatory protection requirements, and support the strategic requirements of the department.
Creation and implementation of enterprise data governance standards.
Manage data governance program and project performance (e.g. delivery on commitments, quality, responsiveness, reliability, service levels).
Coordinate with data stewards and data owners across the enterprise to address data quality issues and develop data governance goals, standards, processes, and technologies.
Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
Roll out an enterprise wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture.
Education required of the position
Bachelor's degree in Business, IT or related STEM field or equivalent experience.
Experience required of the position
Minimum of 5+ years of governance of data at business unit and Enterprise level, preferably 2+ years in Energy industry.
Experience with implementation and use of data governance software (e.g. Informatica Enterprise Information Catalog, IBM InfoSphere).
Demonstrated practical working knowledge of data management and governance disciplines, including data profiling, data quality, and hands-on management of business definitions/glossary and technical metadata.
Experience with the following technologies: SQL databases, Hadoop or other Big Data platforms, Tableau or similar data visualization tools such as SSRS, Spotfire or others.
Skills and abilities required of the position
Strong communicator both at technical and strategic levels; Ability to translate business input into a set of target data quality standards; Experience discussing complex topics in a simple, easy-to-understand way; Demonstrated teamwork skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with variety of customers and stakeholders
