This position will sit in Winter Garden, FL but may also have field work in Clermont, FL.

Job Summary

The Engineering Technologist III or Senior Engineering Technologist position is the third (or fourth if Senior) level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role. The Engineering Technologist III or Senior Engineering Technologist provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Employees in the Engineering Technologist III or Senior Engineering Technologist position are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.

Responsibilities

• Provides deep technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise,

• Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, designing, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities,

• Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, designs, and sketches,

• Conducts thorough QAQC reviews of outsourced and in-house Work Order designs

• Expertise with Maximo/BOUD, or ability to acquire Maximo/BOUD knowledge/expertise

• Conducts engineering and related studies,

• Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance,

• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities,

• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills,

• Maintains accurate records and files,

• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

Basic/Required Qualifications

Note: This posting is for one open position. Dependent on relative experience, the level to which a candidate is aligned is outlined below.

Engineering Technologist III

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND five (5) years minimum of related experience OR

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND three (3) years minimum of related experience

• In lieu of degree, high school diploma/GED AND nine (9) years minimum of related experience.

Senior Engineering Technologist

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND eight (8) years minimum of relevant industry experience OR

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND six (6) years minimum of relevant industry experience

• In lieu of degree, high school diploma/GED AND twelve (12) years minimum of related experience.

Specific Requirements

• Valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications

• Experience interacting with customers on customer-facing projects

• Distribution design experience

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Experience in the utility industry.

• Able to effectively apply basic principles of project management.

Working Conditions

• M - F, flexible schedule available after training and based on business needs (9-80). First six months to be onsite for training.

• Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to a Duke Energy facility.

• 2 - 3 days per week in office, onsite schedule to be worked out with manager
