Become a Production Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll support the utility network and provide transmission line protection, monitoring and remote operation capabilities of telecom equipment inside and outside SCE’s service territory. Trans Telecom also provides support to Edison Carrier Solutions (ECS) by servicing 3rd party non-utility customers. The Production Specialist (P-Spec) will report to a Senior Supervisor, Superintendent within a team in Operations, focusing on construction activities, maintenance and inspection and providing direction to crews on work order execution plans, and strategically structuring work activities within their work unit to optimize safety, productivity, and cost efficiency. This position requires a unique mix of experiences and technical knowledge so that the P-Spec can control execution costs and achieve productivity targets without compromising safety. The P-Spec must have a thorough understanding of line construction and electrical work to provide consultative services to the General Supervisor and crews on technical issues.

Responsible for organizing work, making sound decisions, and developing and implementing strategies to execute work on time and in the most productive and cost-efficient manner possible.
Makes recommendations to General Supervisor and directs crews in order to maximize crew productivity and cost efficiency by programming clearances on electrical lines for SCE and Contract resources.
Combines field experience of construction methods and a thorough understanding of productivity calculation to recommend manpower required to complete each job.
Applies a thorough understanding of productivity and the impact of fatigue, premium time, and resource allocation to work unit performance.
Ensures the work order is executable and meets customer needs.
Ensures all designs comply with design and construction standards.
Organizes construction activities and validates constructability and that crew has all required resources such as equipment, materials, and access to jobsite.
Call-in Underground Service Alerts (USA) and delineating scope of work in the field.
Develops execution strategy, optimal scheduling, outage scheduling, bundling, and job coordination to completion, including, but not limited to the following: receiving material deliveries, arranging for pole deliveries, facilitating crane ordering and delivery, operating forklifts, securing traffic control and necessary permits to execute jobs, arranging necessary meetings with appropriate external agencies, communicating changes made to any dates to all planning/scheduling departments and internal/external customers, managing dates in Primavera P6.
Participates as a key team member during execution of large projects by ensuring optimal efficiency by visiting jobsite during construction to explore opportunities for improvement with foreman.
Integrates lessons learned and applies the most up-to-date construction processes, environmental and health regulations, and design and construction standards such as: distribution and transmission design standards, electrical Service Requirements, General Order 95, General Order 128, General Order 131D.
Assists General Supervisor with the growth and development of crew foremen and linemen by: educating crews on throughput, cost efficiency, and other productivity metrics, providing feedback and coaching to crew foremen and linemen related to the production of high quality work orders, working with General Supervisor to identify areas of improvement for each project, serving as an upgrade in the absence of the General Supervisor as needed.
Maintains thorough knowledge and understanding of updated processes, equipment, design and construction standards, and environmental and health regulations. Applies unique blend of technical knowledge and field experience to manage cost efficiency among crews.
Available for on-call duty during a storm for damage assessment, a work assignment coordinator, and/or to support the crews as needed.
Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The essentials
Two or more years in an electric utility performing or supervising in planning, design, construction, maintenance, standards & development, system operations, field operations, engineering, or construction project management
Valid Driver’s License
The preferred
Experience as a journeyman lineman, journeyman cable splicer, troubleman, senior patrolman and/or equipment operator
Bachelor’s Degree
Supervisory and/or team leadership experience
Experience with client/customer management providing exceptional customer service, customer satisfaction, building relationships with customers, identifying customer needs, and responding to customer issues
Experience with field design and construction standards
Project management, analytical and administrative skills
Experience with operational vehicle fleet
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, SAP, and CMS
Experience with SCE’s GCC outage request process/system
Experience with the application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the handling of labor relations and diversity issues
You should know
This position’s work mode is on-site . The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

Position will may require up to 40% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
