The Senior Director of Recruiting, reporting to the Vice President of HR and Organizational Development, is responsible for recruiting operations, programs and strategies. Providing leadership to a team of six, this role will seek to align efforts with our strategic plan by evolving our outreach, assessment and selection process along with contingent workforce management, university relations and best practices in diversity. Engaging with organizational leadership, this role will develop recruitment strategies and programs at all levels to support business operations throughout the New York Power Authority (NYPA). Delivering an extraordinary candidate and hiring manager experience, this person will establish the performance metrics that assess the effectiveness of recruitment techniques.
Create and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy
Partner and consult with business unit leaders in developing recruiting goals and strategies to meet their needs and hiring challenges
Manage the end to end recruitment process including liaising with senior leadership, managing expectations on the candidate market and recruitment sources
Own the candidate experience and actively coach your team to partner with Department Heads and Hiring Managers to create a superb client and candidate experience
Establish analytics to help monitor the effectiveness of recruitment techniques and strategies
Design, implement and maintain the appropriate processes, tools, systems and training necessary to scale and support the function
Build and manage a college recruitment program
Manage the full cycle of the NYPA Summer Intern program from approvals to hiring and onboarding
Develop and implement innovative sourcing practices that attract and deliver comprehensive and high quality talent to the organization
Manage, mentor, coach, and grow recruiting team members to align with business delivery needs
Manage recruitment brand to engage and attract best in class employees
Lead targeted executive searches as well as provide back-up sourcing and interview assistance to the recruiting team and hiring managers as needed
Offer negotiation and management of the approval process with senior leaders; advising on internal and external salary benchmarking and market trends
Review performance of staff; establish work performance goals and review individual goals each appraisal period
Proven experience in leading and building a recruiting team
Proven experience in building capability and expertise to recruit top talent
Implementing recruiting best practices
Experience creating and improving upon a great candidate experience
A data driven mindset with the ability to influence, drive decisions and lead discussions utilizing data
Excellent communication, presentation, leadership and influencing skills
Effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects within varying deadlines
Excellent creative problem solving skills
Collaborative team player with the ability to build strong relationships
Professionalism, sensitivity, discretion and sound judgment along with the ability to interact at the highest levels are essential
Strong business acumen
Knowledge of related employment law, practices and procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and various applicant tracking systems
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Masters’ degree preferred.
8+ years progressive recruiting experience. 3+ years of team lead/management experience.
Recruiting in Engineering or Utility preferred.
Approximately 10% travel primarily within NY State
May be required to attend functions outside of normal business hours
