Job Description

This individual shall have Sr. Analyst Programmer responsibilities of overseeing the evaluation, design, and development of enterprise class applications. The individual will work on the development of standards, methodologies, and guidelines pertaining to applications development including, but not limited to, application architecture, detailed design, configuration management, design patterns, deployment procedures, data integrity, capacity planning, and security. Candidate will collaborate with enterprise and solution architects as well as the business analysts to analyze requirements to develop enterprise class applications. Other primary responsibilities of the position includes

  • Work collaboratively with architecture and solutions teams to develop high-level and detailed application design and provide recommendations on solutions

  • Develop technology strategy and road maps to support NYPA strategic initiatives

  • Define development strategies to ensure the appropriate controls are in place to enable the rapid application development.

  • Manage software development projects from design, coding, testing, documentation and delivery.

  • Architect and develop various application design patterns and prepare technical design documents.

  • Provide strategic, forward-thinking ideas to help define technical architecture and vision for applications development.

  • Provide technical expertise in the development of design and functional specifications.

  • Support self-service analytics initiative

  • Provide technical guidance to application support teams and assist with impact analysis for any changes requested to the enterprise applications.

  • Implement standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance.

  • Control migrations of application changes, data model changes through the development life cycle.

  • Keep abreast of new technologies and products to support NYPA strategic initiatives.

  • Responsible for preparing documentation and coordinating in support of the change control process and internal governance meetings throughout the project life cycle

Required Skills

  • Experience in design, development and maintenance of enterprise applications

  • Object-oriented and other programming languages, web/internet technologies, frameworks and application development tools -- e.g. C#, Java, JavaScript, XML, Python, Tableau, Apache, IIS, JQuery, AngularJS, Visual Studio

  • Understanding of Hardware, Operating Systems, Software, and systems maintenance that involve software patching and upgrade

  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting high-performing applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions/recommendations to business needs.

  • Understanding of REST Services and APIs.

  • Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and tools.

  • Experience with relational and Not Only SQL (NoSQL) databases

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to liaise with various teams in the organization.

  • Working experience with Microsoft Dynamics (CRM).

  • Working experience with Web Content Management tools (preferable Sitecore or SharePoint)

  • Must have exceptional team attitude and the ability to work independently.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented, agile environment

  • Ability to orchestrate meeting with customers and upper management

  • Define problem areas, as well as develop and recommend effective courses of action.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, or related field.

  • Minimum 8 years quality experience (or a minimum of 12 years of directly related experience for non-degree holders) including at least 6 years in an applications development and support environment.

  • Minimum 5 years of project Management experience within various IT disciplines.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in Python, ASP.Net, C#, Java Script, JQuery

  • Experience in Tableau , SSRS and Crystal reporting

  • Strong understanding of Software development methodologies, Design Patterns, Application Security, databases (Relational and NoSQL)

  • Experience with Web Service technologies and REST services

  • Team Foundation Server experience for both source control and software development methodologies is required

  • Experience in developing hybrid applications, for desktop and mobile

  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills

  • Person must be able to travel for meetings and project coordination.
