New York Power Authority Resilience Preparedness Program Manager in White Plains, New York
NYPA is working to ensure that NYPA builds, maintains, and implements the capabilities needed to prevent, prepare for, and respond to and recover from any and all events and hazards, whether man made or natural.
This Resilience Preparedness Program Manager is intended to lead resilience projects working across every business unit in NYPA.
Provide leadership and recommendations in managing the work and activities involved in conducting and planning efforts to improve the protection, resiliency and reliability of NYPA.
Support both internal and external NYPA program operations, including working with the federal and state governments to ensure NYPA is following best practices, guidelines and standards to prepare for and adapt to threats and hazards.
Work closely with Senior Director Energy Security & Resilience Programs to analyze, justify and compare costs in contracted work; provide technical requirements and descriptions of the work to be accomplished; plan work schedules, deadlines and standards for acceptable work.
Monitor and determine the impact of various legislative, regulatory and presidential initiatives on NYPA, and recommend appropriate actions, or changes to programmatic elements, to the Senior Director Energy Security & Resilience Programs.
Coordinate with state and federal partners and industry trade groups (i.e., APPA, LPPC, NATF, etc.) in support of preparedness with primary focus in the areas of protection, mitigation and resilience.
Work closely with NYPA’s Procurement and Risk organizations to understand and comply with all relevant policies and regulations, both internal and external to NYPA.
Work closely with corporate communications and outreach to ensure proper messaging across the organization.
Provide programmatic guidance on training, as may be required.
Participate in external engagements (resilience committees and/or forums) and develop third-party relationships; establish relationships with similar stakeholders.
Act as a delegate on panels, in meetings, conferences and workshops.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze financial and operational data
Highly competent writing skills with ability to summarize analysis
Ability to communicate effectively to senior staff, as well as external colleagues
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle significant workload in fast-paced environment with multiple projects, timelines and due dates
Ability to pivot – change work priorities as new details become clear
Ability to influence others both within and outside the organization
Ability to motivate others and lead by example are also essential qualities
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science
5+ years of experience working in the Energy Industry, or government experience
Experience in project management
Experience in change management and oversight of technical contractors and consultants
Valid US driver’s license
Ability to travel approximately 35%
