New York Power Authority Payroll Representative in White Plains, New York

Summary

The Payroll Representative maintains employee files, processes changes to employee master records in the payroll system, monitors and reviews time entry in the Time & Attendance system, calculates special payments, reconciles payroll registers, process 3rd party payments, distributes various reports and checks to both employees and sites.

Responsibilities

  • Process entries for multiple payrolls including time entry and master data, deduction changes, direct deposit entries, W4 changes, paid time off balance adjustments.

  • Monitor the time & attendance system to ensure compliance with NYPA and Canals policies by checking and auditing timekeeping records.

  • Reconcile payroll registers against original source data verifying all paychecks are processed accurately.

  • Verify the accuracy of exports from payroll system for multiple payrolls to ensure reports have accurate data.

  • Distribute paychecks to Headquarters and all NYPA locations.

  • Distribute in-house reports to managers, Finance, Human Resources and Benefits detailing employee earnings, deductions, paid time off balances, etc.

  • Maintain employee payroll files, including archiving.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good math/accounting aptitude

  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Good organizational skills and a detailed oriented approach.

  • Ability to work on projects with little supervision.

  • Effective verbal and written skills required.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Some knowledge of current payroll compliance procedures and laws.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Associate’s Degree in a business relevant field or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Finance is preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year of computerized payroll processing experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Limited travel (about 10%) required primarily to our generating facilities.
