Summary

The Operational Performance & Reporting Analyst is responsible for assisting in the development and monitoring of Utility Operations KPI’s and reporting on Utility Operations Performance. The analyst supports the strategic direction and decision-making of the Utility Operations Business Unit as part of an effective Asset Management program. The analyst supports the Manager of Operational Performance in the interface with NYPA’s Utility Operations Strategy Group to ensure that the business unit’s metrics align with the identified Corporate metrics. The role is responsible for working closely with staff from OPMG, Program Controls, Asset Information, Engineering, Project Management, and the operating facilities using information provided through the centralized reporting processes to issue regular analysis of project and facility performance. The analyst assists the Manager of Operational Performance & Reporting in the identification and development of targeted and requested reports to monitor operational and financial performance of the Utility Operations Business Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data gathering, processing, and issuance of monthly Chief Operating Officer Report including background information necessary to explain metric dynamics over time.

  • Provide support in preparation of final metric values for the Operations Trustee Reports. Assist in preparation of presentation slides and briefing materials used by Operations Senior management during NYPA Trustee meetings.

  • Participate in preparation of presentation materials for periodic Utility Operations meetings.

  • Gather data from sources internal to NYPA to perform analysis, issue reports, and metrics in order to effectively monitor Operations performance and provide timely information on the department’s ability to meet set targets.

  • Gather data from sources external to NYPA including GADS, Maximo, SAP to perform analysis and issue reports to NYPA’s internal and external stakeholders.

  • Document existing and future processes in a form of procedures.

  • Constantly review and propose modifications resulting in improvement and streamlining of current reporting practices.

  • Actively monitor developments within NYPA and the Utility industry in order to propose refinements of existing and introduction and implementation of new performance measures within Utility Operations.

  • Resolve in a timely manner and provide analysis and responses to internal and external inquiries.

  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with NYPA Site personnel and other stakeholders internal and external to NYPA.

  • Communicate with NYPA site management and personnel to gather current priority 2 Preventive Maintenance data and obtain background information explaining metric dynamics. Summarize findings in a quarterly report.

  • Maintain appropriate report formats and dashboard for each of the performance measures.

  • Support the Manager Operational Performance & Reporting in development, implementation and maintenance of performance measure dashboard. (Enterprise Excellence team involvement).

  • Proficiency with MS Excel and other computer applications.

  • Good working knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint.

  • MS Visio, Tableau, P6 Primavera and MS Project knowledge desirable.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistical Analysis, Engineering, or the equivalent is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an analytical function.

  • Minimum of 3 years of Utility related experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Limited travel (less than 15%) required primarily to our generating facilities.
