Associate Settlement Analyst
The Settlement Analyst utilizes NYISO market dynamics as the basis for analysis, reconciliation and processing of utility specific market reports resulting from NYPA’s participation in the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) market. The Settlements Analyst is responsible for processing of NYISO charges for customer billing and NYISO generator revenues for NYPA resources. The Analyst works closely with MFS Scheduling Analysts, IT, and other NYPA departments and external organizations to share knowledge of market settlement issues and results of scheduling anomalies. The reponsibilities include:
Assist in review of NYPA’s submissions to the NYISO for use in performing anomaly investigations on the resulting settlements.
Assist in the development accounting data for Sales & Energy Accounting to facilitate the timely and accurate recording of transactions.
Assist in the development of and provide data to Generation Resource Management in an effort to facilitate the timely and accurate recording of individual generator revenue and costs transactions.
Assist in the development of and provide data to Finance in an effort to facilitate the timely and accurate recording of Transmission related revenues.
Assist in performing general NYISO electricity market settlement analysis by breaking down and analyzing market transactions, customer loads to NYPA generation to develop and allocate costs to various customer segments.
Prepare weekly and monthly Invoice Heads Up estimate, monthly Reserve Report and various other reports for Accounting and other internal & external customers.
Assist in providing support for various NYPA departments, by assisting in developing electronic interfaces, reporting changes, producing reports, providing data files and resolving all outstanding problems associated with the NYISO and PJM settlement process.
Strong interpersonal skills (e.g. tact/diplomacy, persuasion, cooperation, negotiations) are preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills (e.g., presentation, listening, report writing) are required.
Ability to provide accurate reports, summaries and electronic data to internal and external stakeholders in accordance with agreed upon deadlines.
Excellent mathematical, verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively implement contracts, resolve problems, and interact with customers.
Ability to demonstrate basic understanding of NYISO market dynamics and the role NYPA and specifically Settlements has on monitoring settlement activity.
Basic understanding of cost allocation
Proficiency with other complex computer based accounting or inventory applications is helpful.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other computer applications and file organization procedures is required.
Demonstrated abilty to use Pivot Tables, Tables and Database fromulas within MS Excel at basic level.
Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Power Point and MS Access. MS Visio knowledge is desireable.
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner at times with limited supervision.
Ability to solve problems, work in a team setting on implementations, and to meet project deadlines.
Ability to work cooperatively on teams in a fast paced environment.
Proven ability to organize data, report on studies in a logical and effective manner, and a demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments.
Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or the equivalent is required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an analytical role/ accounting function.
Minimum of 2 years experience of Utility related experience is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 1 years of experience working in and/or interacting with the NYISO Marketplace (or equivalent) is preferred.
