Eversource Energy Program Manager, Equity & Environmental Justice in Westwood, Massachusetts

Role and Scope of Position:

The Program Manager of Equity and Environmental Justice (EEJ) works with the EEJ Director in managing Eversource’s commitment to and support of equity and environmental justice actions and communications across the company’s service territory and its business units, consistent with equity guidelines developed by Eversource’s Pro-Equity Advisory Team (PEAT). Including Environmental Affairs, Licensing and Permitting, Transmission and other Corporate Relations areas.

Develops and maintains effective external relationships with organizations and individuals (universities, environmental advocates, equity and environmental justice groups) and is a liaison to ensure the priorities and input from key stakeholders are communicated and carefully considered in decision making. equitable relationships with Eversource’s customers and key constituents.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with business partners to identify and strengthen linkages with key groups and coalitions and support business areas to identify processes, resources and other steps needed to further integrate equity priorities.
  • Work with business units to develop a strategy to leverage the company’s equity and environmental justice program to influence positive outcomes in project siting, permitting and approvals matters and procedures.
  • Support the development of a Customer Equity training and education program
  • Champion inclusive business practices internally and externally, modeling the key behaviors of recognizing, rectifying, respecting and operationalizing in establishing equitable ways of working.
  • Participate on relevant committees to communicate equity leadership and initiatives.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Working familiarity with environmental issues, diversity, equity and inclusion and community engagement.
  • Meaningful work experience in efforts on behalf of overburdened communities to overcome systemic racism in the environmental arena.
  • Requires proven organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, strong writing skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (i.e., Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) is required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Sociology or related discipline or equivalent experience

Experience :

  • Minimum of three (3) or more years of experience coordinating/administering programs
  • Project management experience is a plus

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

  • Work is a combination of office and fieldwork, which can include evenings and/or weekends, particularly for signature and other major events.

  • Must be willing and available to travel across the Eversource service territory (more than 50% of the time is spent outside of the office)

  • Must be willing to use personal vehicle

  • Work involves a high degree of organizational skills, analyzing, and coordination
  • Must be very diplomatic and have the ability to get along with all levels of management and external stakeholders and partners
  • This role also requires a person be able to multitask and adhere to strict schedules and deadlines

Eversource Energy offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $92,000-$104,000/year, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Please check our career site for an overview of our benefits.
