Eversource Energy Associate Environmental Coordinator, Asbestos in Westwood, Massachusetts

The Associate Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with the support of asbestos management associated with electric and gas operations and Eversource Facilities. The qualified individual will work with Eversource’s existing Asbestos Program Administrator to fulfill the core duties of this support role.

Support will primarily involve records management and coordination assistance for inspection and abatement work, as well as invoice processing, and emergency waiver requests. On-site work such as project planning and periodic abatement site visits will be involved.

The qualified individual will also provide technical asbestos-related guidance for Eversource Electric. Gas, and Facilities groups as well as supporting permit renewals, policy writing, assistance with employee training, and vendor contract upkeep.

Essential Functions

  • Work with the existing Asbestos Program Administrator to provide asbestos management support for projects throughout Eversource’s territory in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
  • Maintain project records for asbestos abatement and inspection work. Record retention includes Eversource’s “RIMS” and “Enviance” retention systems, as well as Excel spreadsheet tracking.
  • Process vendor invoices for asbestos work, utilizing IBM Maximo software.
  • Perform periodic site visits to assist with project planning, compliance assurance, and contractor performance evaluation. Site work exists throughout CT, MA, and NH.
  • Become familiar with asbestos regulations in CT, MA, and NH, as well as Federal level regulations (EPA, OSHA), and applicable local regulations.
  • Assist with and submit emergency abatement waivers and authorization requests to MassDEP, CT Department of Public Health, Hew Hampshire DES, or other applicable regulators.
  • Support the development and implementation of employee asbestos-related training, including Eversource online eLearning, in-house classes, and 3rd party provider services.
  • Support policy development and maintenance.
  • Represent Eversource with customers and regulatory authorities striving to enhance and improve relationships.
  • Assist and support internal business area owners to improve environmental processes and in audit follow-up actions and responses.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge regarding asbestos management including general knowledge of the inspection, abatement, and disposal process.
  • Strong Team Player that can work independently as necessary
  • Positive Attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal skills are required
  • The ability to be detailed oriented, but can visualize the larger impact of a series of events
  • Comfortable working with both computer based and field processes
  • Proficient knowledge of general computing, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multi-task and address multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills

Education/ Experiences:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Applied Science, Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Zero (0) plus years related experience

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Must hold a valid motor vehicle driver’s license
