Staff Engineer: $82,800 - $103,500

Principal Engineer: $98,700 – $131,600

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Additional hours as required)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

This professional position is responsible for site engineering duties on station electrical systems including generators, isophase busses, transformers, motors, lighting, relaying, switchgear and more. Applicant would be responsible for inspections, system improvement recommendations, project management, overhauls, troubleshooting, and support of other engineers’ projects at both Iatan and Lake Road Generating Stations. The ideal candidate also will support site I&C systems including instruments, Ovation DCS systems, and PLC’s.

⦁ Provide technical support to Plant Operations, Maintenance, and engineering on system improvements, troubleshooting, repair plans, process optimization and project implementation.

⦁ Perform electrical capital improvement projects on various electrical equipment including generators, isophase bus, transformers, motors and electrical systems.

⦁ Perform project engineering duties to overhaul and replace equipment including the development of budget, schedules, specifications, and documents.

⦁ Support low and medium voltage power circuit breaker maintenance, protective relaying, and testing as well as testing and troubleshooting of high current in-plant distribution systems.

⦁ Work with plant engineers, electricians, technicians, operations, and predictive maintenance staff to identify main and auxiliary power systems problems and plan their repair or replacement.

⦁ Provide strategic leadership in the capital and O&M budgeting process. Provide budgetary cost, schedule, and justification for future years’ capital improvement projects.

⦁ Keeping current in discipline, assess new technologies and ideas, develop, evaluate, and seek approval for new concepts to improve the efficiency and the capability of the process.

⦁ Lead assigned efforts for improvements in support of safety and plant market mission.

⦁ Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and prepare concisely written reports.

⦁ Ability to foster relationships with plant craft to be a go-to resource for electrical engineering support.

⦁ Demonstrated degree of sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation in handling complex technical assignments, with minimal supervision.

⦁ Own and manage the electric MOC (Management of Change) process for the sites.

⦁ The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of DCS system (hardware and software) with the ability to assist with hardware installation and controls tuning.


Education and Experience Requirements:

⦁ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university (ABET) is required.

⦁ All levels of experience will be considered for this position.

⦁ Knowledge and experience with appropriate regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, practices, and advanced engineering principles.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:

⦁ Working conditions include cold, hot, dirty, and noisy environments. Requires work in high places and confined spaces.

⦁ Ability to work effectively in a team environment, build consensus, and foster relationships at multiple organization levels and across different organizational functions.

Working Conditions: Position located at Iatan Generating Station with regular travel to Lake Road Generating Station. Mix between office and field work.
