Become a Transformer Repair Helper at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll work in the Transformer Shop Services division within Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Transmission & Distribution Organizational Unit. This position will work with skilled crews involved in assembling, processing, testing, and repairing of critical new and existing power transformers throughout SCE service territory. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.As a Transformer Repair Helper , your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Assists Transformer Forman and Transformer Specialists in dismantling transformers, circuit breakers and other oil filled electrical equipment for retirement.

  • Rigs and signals for operation of material handling equipment.

  • Learns about tools, materials, and methods of construction as needed.

  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, manlifts, hoists and chainfalls and light trucks.

  • Performs other miscellaneous manual labor functions as needed.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • One or more years of experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical or industrial equipment.

  • Ability to perform heavy physical work in a shop or field environment including using hand and power tools.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

The preferred

  • Formal Electrical Training Certification or Diploma through an Electrical Apprenticeship, Trade School, University, Community College or equivalent.

  • Experience working with electrical tools, materials, and methods employed in working with high or low voltage equipment.

  • Experience with work on power transformers.

  • Experience with performing heavy manual labor.

  • This position’s work mode is On-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
