Become a Quality Control Field Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll provide support to the Quality Control Management group, and directly support the Field Inspection Team. Support is provided for a multitude of project types, all related to the QC inspection of SCE’s electrical system. The Quality Control Specialist will provide support to activities related to the Quality Control (QC) inspection programs to include but not be limited to, work order planning and closure, Pole loading inspections, Intrusive Pole Inspection, Overhead Distribution Construction Inspections, Overhead Transmission Construction Inspections and Overhead Detailed Inspections of distribution circuits. You will also conduct and document final inspections and/or assessments to assure compliance with Southern California Edison (SCE) Construction & Design Standards as well as Regulatory requirements including CPUC, GO95, GO165; and verify that the construction and design requirements have been achieved by performance of independent inspections.

  • Operate unique measurement equipment and input findings into the program software including MS Access and apps on iPad.

  • Learns and applies industry standards related to SCE manuals, CPUC, GO95 & GO165.

  • Perform independent and/or team assessments of work performed to assure results obtained by peers are valid.

  • Provide support during the QC peer review and checkpoint process.

  • Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities/enhancements.

  • When non-conformances /discrepancies are identified, provide feedback, recommendations, and analysis (as applicable).

  • Stay ahead of QC processes by participating in technical, safety, and program development training.

  • Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information, both orally and in writing, to technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.


The essentials

  • Three years of experience in gathering and analyzing information to make sound decisions independently and in consideration of applicable policies and procedures.

  • Two years of experience working with iPad, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Teams.

  • Valid CA Driver’s License.

The preferred

  • Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Electric distribution experience.

  • Project Management Certification.

  • Experience in project management theories and practices.

  • Experience crafting and maintaining records, logs, documents, files, or databases for use in monitoring, tracking, and trending program/project costs, budget and production variance, resources, schedules, and status for management with attention to detail.

  • Experience reviewing, updating and preparing reports, documents, or correspondence for internal and external customers to provide project updates and status with attention to detail.

  • Experience performing risk analysis, capturing documents and researching data on assigned topics, using databases, files, spreadsheets, or other sources.

  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects/assignments concurrently with minimal oversight under tight timelines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and SAP.

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage information, and provide outstanding service to internal and external customers.

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is on-site . The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • Position will require 80% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory, overnight stays may be required.
