A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Deliver technical skills training with emphasis in Electrical, Instrument and Control as it applies to electrical generation in a power plant setting.

  • Provide classroom and field training and manage a safe and professional learning environment, maintain training program curriculum, and assist with course design and construction.

  • Assess and implement relevant company initiatives as they relate to the appropriate training programs (e.g., grid resiliency, grid modernization, work methods, field practices, standards, safety initiatives etc.)

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support all curriculum creation and maintenance activities requiring in-depth knowledge of a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT), specifically the ADDIE model that outlines the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training curriculum.

  • Provide leadership in the classroom and influence our Generation safety culture by reinforcing the importance of consistently following policies and procedures and fostering a mindset to recognize and mitigate hazards and risks.

  • Make decisions as an instructor and leader in classroom environments, and working within client management and training curriculum pertaining to SAT.

  • Assess how to best fulfill and prioritize training requirements within your training area of responsibility and knowing state/federal regulatory standards;

  • Assess what areas need focus due to various drivers such as safety, student abilities understanding information presented, fitness for duty, attendance, and participation.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • 5 years or more of combined electrical, instrument and controls hands-on field, technical and training experience.

  • Training experience instructing others in a classroom, meeting environment, or providing on-the-job training and evaluating trainees on task performance.

The preferred

  • Qualified Journeyman electrician.

  • Field experience in the craft and/or field.

  • Work experience to include knowledge of related organizational policies, objectives, strategies, and goals, applicable governmental and regulatory laws.

  • Training experience includes instructing a formal training class, evaluating task performance, and having a role on curriculum development projects using an SAT.

  • Training development experience also includes partnering with clients and subject-matter-experts in the training curriculum development process.

  • Experience partnering with line management to develop and implement changes in work processes and procedures.

  • Familiarity with OSHA safety practices, such as: fall protection, forklift operations, scaffold inspection, use of fire extinguishers, and performing safety observations in a field work environment is preferred.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • Position will require periodic travel to field locations throughout the SCE service territory.

  • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email.
