In this job, you’ll provide hands-on technical support and platform maintenance for the DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management System) module of our Grid Management System (GMS).
You will focus on resolving the highly technical and complex problems occurring within the DERMS / Distribution SCADA / GMS portfolio. You will interface with the operations and maintenance staff and work with business clients and IT partners to maximize the value of our managed control platforms. Serving in this role, you will provide technical leadership and guidance to other specialists in the day-to-day operations of our systems. You will support mission critical applications, including tier-3 support and occasional rotating after-hours responsibility. You’ll also provide input on projects where a high level of DERMS and control system expertise is required to effectively integrate new systems, new functions, and processes. We’re looking for a team member that is comfortable in operating in a fast-paced environment, that embraces diverse team dynamics. and will know how to handle changes to priorities. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
Leading and providing operational support, troubleshooting and modifications to the Grid Management System’s DERMS module that supports SCE’s management of Distributed Energy Resources on the Electrical Grid.
Perform software development and maintenance support for the SCE Grid Management System (GMS) as they relate to the operation and control of the Electrical Grid.
Troubleshoot controls hardware issues and/or equipment performance/response issues related to all field devices connected to the GMS. Assist Grid Operations and infrastructure engineers/technicians with troubleshooting.
Provides recommendations to senior management on high-level technical issues pertaining to the DERMS system and related Grid Control applications.
Qualifications
The essentials
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or scientific/ technical/ math related field.
Five (5) or more years of experience in Application Development or Support & Maintenance of large enterprise grade applications.
Two (2) or more years of experience in Application Development or Support & Maintenance of microservices based applications in a Kubernetes platform.
Strong understanding of Cybersecurity concepts and experience with PKI, X.509, OAuth 2, Web Application Firewalls, etcetc.
The preferred
Knowledge of IEEE 2030.5 protocol to support Distribution Energy Resource (DER) integration
Experience in Kubernetes ecosystem including Ingress, Prometheus, Grafana and EFK
DevOps tools experience
Experience with SCADA, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), or Process Control Systems.
Experience with one or more of the following: DNP 3.0, Modbus, IEC61850, Inter Control Center Protocol (TASE2/ICCP), 2030.5, and OPC automation protocols.
Experience in designing Highly Available and redundant systems and understanding of Global Traffic Manager, Local Traffic Manager and Load balancing systems.

When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position. Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to an assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
The primary work location for this position is Santa Ana, CA; however, the successful candidate must also be able to be work out of a Westminster, CA SCE location from time to time.
