Your Impact at SAM

  • The survey instrument operator uses a variety of land survey instruments to support a crew in their daily operations

  • Assists in the completion of field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief

  • Responsible for the operation, checking and basic field adjustments of land survey equipment. E.g. tripods, tribrachs, levels, total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems

  • Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations

  • Read and interpret various types of maps and plans

  • Complete neat and orderly field notes for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief

  • Keeps Crew Chief informed of problems and progress

  • Load and unload trucks with land survey equipment and supplies

  • Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools and vehicle

  • Follow company safety procedures for land survey operations

What You Bring to SAM

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Possession of a valid, current driver’s license

  • One year industry experience

  • Knowledgeable in the principles and performance of basic types of surveys, survey computations, and field operations

  • Ability to work continually outside in all types of weather conditions and terrain

  • Ability to work out of town, in remote locations, for extended periods of time
