Job Summary

Millstone Power Station is seeking a Health Physics Technician to perform the following duties:

  • Provide radiological protection to protect the health and safety of the general public and employees from the hazards of radiation through surveys, analyses, sampling and compliance with regulations, standards and procedures.

  • Provide job coverage for radiological concerns during routine and special plant maintenance activities.

  • Perform routine and random radiation surveys (including personnel exposure, equipment contamination, air samples) to assess radiological conditions.

  • Prepare and monitor Radiation Work Permits.

  • Inspect, calibrate and maintain radiological protection instrumentation and sampling equipment.

  • Provide technical expertise and support to all radiological protection program elements.

  • Evaluate regulatory and industry standards for applicability to radiological control activities.

  • Prepare, analyze, survey, package and ship radioactive material and waste.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 4 years of Radiation Protection experience, preferably within the Nuclear Industry

  • Completion of Health Physics Technician Development Program or equivalent industry experience.

Must be willing to participate in initial and continuing training

The successful candidate will participate in the Station Emergency Response Organiziation, be subject to occasional on-call duties and must be able to commute within 60 minutes of Millstone Power station.

Education Requirements

Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education
