Eversource Energy Welding Supervisor in Waterbury, Connecticut

Plan, coordinate and supervise all welding operations by both Eversource Gas and contractor personnel. Ensure compliance to ANSI/ASME and API codes and established Eversource Gas policies and procedures regarding same. Certify and qualify all personnel so engaged to the above codes as applicable. Operate and supervise the System Welding Shop. Supervise and oversee at least 2 FTE employees in the daily operations of the department.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises, trains and develops staff; prioritizes, plans, schedules, reviews and coordinates work of staff
  • Fosters an environment of teamwork, creativity and problem solving.
  • Ensures work is completed on time, within budget and in a manner consistent with policies, work standards and regulatory requirements. This is accomplished through work planning and assignment of duties, training and coaching. Initiates or recommends disciplinary action when required.
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises all welding, joining and fusing operations by both Eversource Gas and contractor personnel.
  • Monitors all welding and fusing activities for adherence to and compliance with established ANSI/ASME and API codes and standards.
  • Certifies that all welders and fusers have met qualification and performance requirements. Reviews and maintains qualification and performance records to assure compliance.
  • Collaborates with operations and training personnel to identify field training requirements.
  • Assists in updating welding and fusing procedures and manual and ensures that new procedures, procedure changes and other revisions are distributed.
  • Assists in non-destructive evaluations (NDE) and quality control (QC) compliance in conjunction with the research and development (R&D) and standards engineer.
  • Operates and supervises System Welding Shop.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Knowledge of ANSI/ASME and API codes, and welding principles

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience :

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience welding on natural gas pipelines

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $111,600.00 to $124,000.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Exposed to combustible and inert gases, high noise levels and construction site hazards. Required to drive for extended periods of time. Kneeling, bending in tight spaces.
  • This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
