THIS IS A FULLY QUALIFIED LINE MECHANIC POSITION

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The individual will perform work involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric system. A Fully Qualified Line Mechanic position requires at least one year of experience. A line mechanic is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment. This includes working aloft on electric utility poles or on ground and pad mounted structures. Must have the ability to climb poles skillfully with Lineman’s climbers; and the ability to direct the work of others when assigned are required. The selected candidate must be qualified to hold and possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Rubber gloving of high voltage distribution systems up to 23KV is a requirement. The individual will be required, during periods of trouble call assignment, to be available at the reporting base within approximately one-half hour.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • It is preferred that individuals hold a valid Commercial driver’s license (CDL) and clean driving record.

  • Must be physically able to perform the “essential duties” of the Line Mechanic position, as described above.
  • Must be able to effectively interact, communicate, and direct the work of other co-workers.
  • Must be available to perform overtime and emergency work as required and live within one hour of the reporting location

Candidates must successfully pass the written assessment and the overhead physical agility assessment.

This is a union represented position so anyone going into this position would be required to become a member of the union.

Bargaining unit employees under the TEAL contract will be given first consideration.
