Responsibilities

The Director of State Regulatory Policy will play a pivotal role in addressing key state regulatory policy matters, particularly focusing on rates and rate-making. This individual will collaborate closely with Regulatory Affairs and the Institute to craft policy materials such as talking points, slides, position papers, issue trackers, and other resources as requested by members.

• Work with colleagues on State Regulatory Affairs to develop policy positions, regulatory objectives, educational content and advocacy strategies related to regulatory reform, rate reform, infrastructure investment, clean energy transition, including ability to integrate new technologies and customer assistance programs, and other topics as needed.

• Engage in strategic discussions with members and relevant stakeholders on key regulatory and state legislative issues. Assist EEI members in state regulatory proceedings/activities by providing them with strategic and technical assistance.

• Oversee the Manager, State Regulatory Policy, and the Analyst, State Regulatory Policy and grow their capacity working to track important industry issues, respond to member requests, and management of the Rate Analyst Working Group.

• Respond to requests for information/research from member companies and internal stakeholders.

• Manage two Rates and Regulatory Affairs Committee meetings by selecting a date and location, drafting of agenda and marketing materials, providing oversight on hotel logistics (food & beverage, A/V requirements) and off-site dinner selection. Manage one Rates School with support from Wisconsin Public Utilities Institute by reaching out to instructors, drafting agenda and marketing materials, and getting registrants to attend.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred (Masters, JD, etc.)

• Eight or more years of relevant regulatory or utility industry experience

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and technical knowledge of the industry

• Strong writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize workload

Compensation

The salary range for this role begins at $133,000. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications. EEI also offers an annual performance incentive which is prorated for mid-year start dates. This incentive is typically up to 10% of base salary. Office Protocol

This is a hybrid position which requires the incumbent to reside in the District of Columbia metropolitan area and come into the office a minimum of three days each week with two of the mandatory days being Tuesday and Wednesday.
