Edison Electric Institute Director, Government Relations (Appropriations) in Washington, District Of Columbia

Overview

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies, has an outstanding opportunity for a Director, Government Relations. 

Responsibilities

The Director is responsible for advancing the interests and policy agenda of investor-owned electric companies with Congress, the Administration, and other stakeholder groups. Responsibilities include working on federal spending issues, including those in the Administration’s budget, appropriations bills, budget resolutions, and budget reconciliation.

In addition, the Director will develop and coordinate a comprehensive strategy to promote EEI’s priorities and agenda on the relevant issues to Members of Congress (especially on the Appropriations Committees), congressional staff, and the Administration and develop champions for our appropriations priorities. Will develop relationships with DOE and with the national labs to build support for EEI’s appropriations priorities. Will represent EEI at official functions, including fundraisers, conferences, and coalition events.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum of five yearsof Hill experience working for a congressional office, committee or equivalent experience as a lobbyist for an electric company or association.

  • Hands-on experience with the federal legislative and political process and an ability to manage and coordinate legislative activities.

  • Ability to read and understand legislative text.

  • Ability tomanage and coordinate legislative activities. 

  • Strongself-initiative and leadership skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communications skills.
