About the Role

National Grid are undergoing a significant period of change to ensure we can respond and adapt to an increasingly more dynamic and challenging energy market. This role is to lead the provision of a complete suite of programme and project related support to the System Operator (SO) Gas change portfolio, enabling the delivery of the SO Gas change portfolio effectively and efficiently. Key elements of the role will include establishing and facilitiating governance bodies, provision of accurate and timely reporting, monitoring and assurance of the SO change portfolio, and supporting accountable sponsors, business leads and the SO Gas change portfolio team with relevant, timely information to facilitate decision making.

Key Accountabilities

  • Providing all programme and project management PMO services for the SO change portfolio

  • Setting the standards for and delivering; business case & needs case writing, benefits management, scoping, scheduling & planning, programme & project governance, programme & project financial management, RAID management and resource management based on the programme and change management framework

  • Development and maintenance of an integrated change plan for SO Gas

  • Track & report accurately project & programme performance against scope, schedule and business case

  • Organise and run where appropriate project and portfolio governance mechanisms and forums

  • Forecast resource demand and produce / manage resourcing budgets whilst ensuring there is clarity around the accountabilities, deliverables and outcomes of all delivery roles – ensuring the central change delivery hub has early visibility of resource demand

  • Drives cultural and behavioural change in SO to work to UK change standards and a consistent framework , working with the UK Change Delivery team to improve standards and methods

  • Providing high quality 1st line programme assurance as defined by the UK change assurance team across the UK change portfolio

  • Co-ordinate and support internal and external programme assurance as required, working with Head of UK assurance

  • Work with the UK Change Hub to develop required services and capabilities to deliver the UK change portfolio successfully

What You'll Get

A competitive salary determined between £50,000 - £60,000 – dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. About You

A degree level qualification or comparable industry experience is essential, qualifications from: PRINCE2, MSP, APM, PMI, SAFe, PEx LCS 2a or similar are desirable. You will also have:

  • Leadership of a project office in either a portfolio or programme capacity

  • Practical experience delivering PMO services across a change portfolio – which will include business case writing, scoping, scheduling, planning, risk management (RAID), programme financial management and reporting, resource management, vendor management and portfolio/ programme governance

  • Experience of leading a high performing PMO team using best practice tools and methods

  • Senior stakeholder engagement around programme and project performance, governance and benefits management

  • Preferable experience of provision of PMO services in an Agile project delivery environment
