National Grid Mobile Process Attendant in Warwick, United Kingdom

Job Purpose

As a Mobile Process Attendant, you will play a key part in maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the OMU mobile processing units at substation sites across the UK. Ensure a safe working environment at the location, the effective delivery of allocated projects and compliance with all site requirements. You will also monitor environmental performance and requirements to provide assurance and compliance.

This role will be located at OMU Thorpe Marsh, Doncaster. The role will also include working at other sites across the country including 3rdparty sites.

A full valid driving licence is required.

You will receive a competitive salary between £24,550 - £27,450 – dependent on experience.

About The Role

  • You will operate the OMU mobile oil processing units on a shift working basis, making inspections and adjustments to the operation of the equipment during processing.

  • You will monitor safety, quality and environmental issues, taking actions as necessary, suspending the operation if required.

  • You will assist Mobile Technicians and Operators in the transport, set-up, start-up, finish and return of the mobile processing units.

  • You will complete periodic maintenance such as replacing filter, strainers and coellessors and annual maintenances.

  • You will provide assistance to Mobile Technicians and Operators to undertake repairs such as pump replacements.

  • You will provide cover and complete other duties at the OMU facilities as required

  • You will carry out inspections, testing and ordering to ensure all equipment and vehicles are available for use.

About You

Technical/Specialist Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of oil processing plant and equipment for the processing of transformer oils.

  • Practical understanding of the operation of equipment, diagnostics and analysis of results.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Permitting Regulations and the Waste Management Licencing Regulations. Environmental knowledge in respect of hazardous waste, polychlorinated biphenyls and a proven ability to respond to emergency situations.

Procedures Experiences:

  • Practical experience of substations work on transformers, oil circuit breakers and technical knowledge relating to the safety aspects of substation plant and equipment.

  • Sound understanding of National Grid’s operational policies, procedures and processes

  • Possess an understanding of the company’s performance management process, including personal development.


  • NVQ Level 2 in Waste Management

  • HGV Class 1

  • Fork Lift Truck licence to 5t
