About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Ohio Edison Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [OEPP]

Location: Warren, OH

Duties:

Under directive or general supervision, engages in skilled installation, testing, maintenance and repair work no automotive, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical equipment' carries through assignments at times with the assistance of other employees; performs duties such as:

  1. Overhauling, repairing and adjusting all types of internal combustion engines; inspecting, removing, installing, replacing, repairing, fitting and adjusting component parts, units and assemblies;

  2. Inspecting, overhauling and adjusting equipment such as brake systems and associated equipment, differential assemblies, power take-offs and associated equipment, radiators and cooling systems, automatic transmissions and fluid couplings, no-spin differentials, multi-wheel drive assemblies and associated equipment, wheel assemblies, shock absorbers and chassis stabilizers, and carburetor and fuel injection systems;

  3. Inspecting, overhauling, adjusting and testing equipment and associated devices such as earth boring machines, cranes, tractors, fork lift bucks, compressors, power mowers; power saws, oil filters, pneumatic tools, pumps and fans and other portable equipment, and all types of hydraulic tools, equipment and controls; repairing gas pumps, electric doors and other ship and garage equipment;

  4. Welding, brazing and cutting metals; building or changing equipment, supports or reinforcement members;

  5. Making alteration to equipment for proper operation or fit;

  6. making inspections and tests of vehicles and equipment; calling attention of supervisor to need for major repair or overhaul work; checking work performed by outside garages for completeness and quality; calling attention of supervisor to defective, inadequate or incomplete work.

  7. Inspecting brakes and making adjustments; reconditioning and replacing master and wheel cylinders;

  8. Performing service work in connection with the correct operation and installation of electric, hydraulic and pneumatic accessories;

  9. Diagnosing troubles encountered with equipment, including obscure faults; making necessary repairs and adjustments; tuning motors; making road tests to dete1mine condition of motor and equipment;

  10. Performing skilled work with bench and power tools or machines, as required; making adjustments or repairs on such equipment, as required;

  11. Maintaining garage shop and building, tools and equipment in a neat and orderly condition;

  12. Preparing and maintaining various repair, vehicle and garage records required by the work;

  13. Directing and training employees assigned to the work;

  14. Performing the duties of Garageman; and

  15. Performing other similar or less skilled work.

Qualifications:

Must meet the Company's requirements as to the General Qualifications and, in addition:

  1. Must have at least four years' diversified experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles and equipment, or the equivalent and the required hydraulic ancl ASE certifications;

  2. Must have a thorough practical knowledge of the functions, constrnction and operation of automotive and other mobile equipment and the maintenance and repair procedures for work on such equipment;

  3. Must have a working knowledge of the special tools and equipment required in the work;

  4. Must be familiar with the functions, operation and care of welding equipment, the precautions required in its operation and have a practical knowledge of metal cutting, bending and welding procedures;

  5. Must be able to read and interpret manufacturer's manuals, drawings and specifications;

  6. must have the ability to receive and pass on orders and instructions in a manner that will maintain harmony and safety, and obtain cooperation and satisfactory work results from men assigned to the work;

  7. Must be able to work cooperatively with employees of other departments or sections and others with whom the work must be coordinated;

  8. Must be able to quickly and accurately diagnose causes ofvehic,ular troubles; and

  9. Must pass motor vehicle operator tests prescribed by the Company and must possess a valid State of Ohio, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Operator's License and a valid Company Motor Vehicle Operator's Permit.

  10. Must have a valid Class A CLD license.
