Job Purpose

In an effort to ensure the success of new transformation initiatives, National Grid is building a team, the Results Management Office (RMO), to work with business units to assess the quantified value and ROI of business cases and track the delivery of expected business benefits and outcomes from transformation programs.

This team will play a critical role in helping the organization quantify the value of the business’ strategic objectives delivered through transformation programs. They will identify business outcomes and solution strategies, as well as assess the current state of value and envision how programs will impact the future state. The RMO will analyze business cases in order to provide recommendations on the initiation of programs and on the suspension/cancellation of in-flight programs that are in need of remediation interventions.

The Value Analyst will support the RMO Lead in quantifying the value of the business’ strategic objectives delivered through transformation programs by identifying and tracking relevant costs, benefits, and outcomes. They will help develop thorough and complete business cases and will track progress against specific and measurable milestones for transformation programs. Additionally, the Value Analyst will help identify any risks or issues that may arise throughout the deployment of transformation programs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support RMO Lead in advising and educating stakeholders on the business case process

  • Assist in developing transformation business cases for prospects

  • Utilize business case management software, programs, and tools to consistently quantify and track the progress and outcomes of Transformation programs

  • Assess and quantify costs, financial benefits, and benefits based on timing, business model impact, complexity to implement, and business risk

  • Conduct regular risk assessments, identify issues, and ensure mitigation activities are initiated at the appropriate time


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field (e.g. computer science, engineering, operations research, quantitative analysis, mathematics or similar field)

  • US [8-10+ years’ experience with business case development, writing, and review for large and complex projects]

  • UK [This individual has previously held a manager-level position in a business case development role]

  • Highly skilled with assurance tracking and reporting

  • Considerable experience with business case development and results tracking in complex, international organizations

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent is desirable

  • Advanced knowledge of PRINCE2, Managing Successful Programs, Management of Risk, Management of Portfolios, APM, PMI, Agile Scrum Techniques is desirable
