National Grid is hiring an IT Manager for our IT Engineering team in Waltham, MA. This role can also sit out of NH, CT, RI, NY and will have a hybrid requirement of being on-site 3-4x a month (subject to change per business needs)

Job Purpose

The IT Manager, Enterprise Asset Management will manage application maintenance and support daily operations within the IT Engineering portfolio. This portfolio includes support across various business units including but not limited to: Meter to Cash, Emergency Work, Inspection and Maintenance, and Construction for Electric and Gas operations.

More specifically, the IT Manager is responsible for leading the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of business applications for the area. The primary application utilized is IBM’s Work & Asset Management solution for utilities, Maximo.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct the overall deployment and activities of their staff and facilitate the resolution of situations brought to their attention. Ensuring coordination and alignment with support teams from other areas and dependent business units and functions.

  • Work directly with business partners, key stake holders, peers or through subordinates to identify requirements and opportunities to create new or modify applications that enable business partners to accomplish key strategies and objectives.

  • Manage all deliverables and obligations related to application operation; application maintenance and support; and application release management.

  • Help to ensure successful delivery of key capital project implementations including seamless transition to steady state support.

  • Manage all outsourced managed services and cloud/hosted contract SLAs related to application operation.

  • Develop and drive application monitoring for performance optimization and proactive awareness.

  • Evaluate root cause technical solutions, striving for elimination of technical debt.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key clients and business partners.

  • Develop and utilize performance metrics to show improvement for service delivery and SLA adherence.

  • Guide business stakeholders to solutions that maximize National Grid investment in technology.

  • Develop strategic plans and road maps to standardize and simplify the production release process, improve application resiliency, and increase throughput and service delivery quality.

  • Define and build a high performing support team and effective support model.

  • Ensure adherence to SOX mandated controls.

  • Understand supported business processes, goals, and objectives to support decision making.

  • Lead and influence architectural decisions.

  • Effectively manage and control maintenance, outside service, and project costs.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience working with or supporting work and asset management applications such as IBM Maximo or Logica STORMS; along with integration experience with partner systems such as Click or Salesforce.

  • A minimum of 10 years of Work and Asset Management application support experience is required of which (5) five years includes supervisory/leadership responsibilities.

  • A minimum of (5) five years related experience managing outsourced IT managed services providers.

  • A minimum of (5) years’ experience supporting COTS and other application software solutions.

  • Strong hands-on technical knowledge in application development, configuration, and maintenance support of Enterprise Asset Management implementations, in a mid to large-scale enterprise.

  • Knowledge and experience with Agile, SAFe, and Waterfall software development methodologies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Gas and Electric Utility experience a plus.

Waltham, MA $132,000 - $186,000 a year

Brooklyn, NY $141,000 - $199,000 a year

Syracuse, NY $117,000 - $166,000 a year
