Job Purpose

Provide proactive leadership and direction to the electric transmission construction contracted and/or internal workforce to ensure that high standards of safety, security, and environmental compliance are developed and consistently maintained.

Key Accountabilities
  • Working closely with workforce to ensure development of a complete Work Proposal, including construction work plan, detailed schedule Safety & Health Plan, and outage plan;

  • Ensuring that external resource needs are adequately identified and assigned to fully support the construction contract work plans, schedule, and budget;

  • Taking a proactive role interfacing with the appropriate individuals to fully understand contract program needs and ensure that promised commitments are delivered on time and within budget;

  • Participating in construction conference calls and meetings to support the requirement to provide weekly updates and reports;

  • Assuring that assigned personnel are properly directed, trained, licensed, and evaluated within Company guidelines and procedures;

  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of department emergency response procedures to help arrange and provide resource support as needed; and

  • Coordinating with external resources for pre-construction meetings, as required

  • Hold clearances and non-reclose assurances required for construction as an authorized person within Clearance & Control.

  • Monitor internal and/or contractor resource level, performance, and implementation plan progress for assigned projects to be certain that appropriate resource levels are being utilized.

  • Monitor upstream dependencies, facilitate construction schedules, and set priorities for the Construction Workforce, to execute the work plan, evaluate/resolve planning and implementation issues, and to ensure timely delivery of projects to stakeholders.

  • Foster and manage internal and contractor relationships that encourage open/honest communication and drive safety, performance, quality, efficiency, customer service, issue resolution, and project successes.

  • Drive Internal and/or Contractor performance through monitoring construction project status, assessing schedule performance, reassigning resources, and monitoring environmental concerns to ensure efficient project delivery and timely internal stakeholder support.

  • Continuously review Construction processes to identify and implement best practice, identify more efficient methods of constructing, and manage and resolve Construction Planning issues and roadblocks.

  • Collaborate closely with the Transmission Lead Construction Supervisor to facilitate constructability reviews, feasibility of construction, estimation development, and risk register development.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Qualifications

5-10 years of related work experience in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology.

Experience in Electric Transmission Line overhead construction techniques

Experience in transmission “Live Line” methods using both hot stick and bare hand techniques

Strong administrative, organizational, and communications skills.

Self-motivating with the possibility of working independently, talking responsibility for work.

Must be willing torespond to emergencies and on call responsibilites.

Valid driver’s license required.
