National Grid is hiring a Project Assurance Specialist for our Program Assurance and Controls department in Waltham, MA.
The Project Assurance Specialist will plan and deliver a range of Program Assurance activities for National Grid’s portfolio of critical programs and projects. This will include preparing Program Assurance strategies, conducting portfolio assessments (e.g. Pulse Checks), project and/or program reviews (e.g. Health Checks), stage-gate assessments, and/or targeted risk assessments.
Assist and support the Director of Program Assurance (US) with the development of program assurance strategies and plans for National Grid’s most critical programs and projects.
Conduct activities associated with portfolio, program, and project assurance reviews; including stage-gate assessments
Identify project/program risks and recommend solutions or remediation actions to program leaders and business sponsors
Review and analyze project/program work products and deliverables against leading practices or industry standard methodologies, e.g. PMI/PMBOK
Interview project/program team members and stakeholders
Document, report and present key findings, risks, and recommendations to project and/or program leaders, Sponsors, or program level boards or steering committees
Build and maintain positive relationships with program leaders and business sponsors within the organization
Stay abreast of and share knowledge on leading practices and industry standards related to portfolio, program and project management
Travel 5% - 10% within the US; primarily Northeast (e.g. New York), occasionally to UK. This may vary, depending on the locations of programs and/or projects beings assessed.
Bachelor's degree preferred, in Business Administration, Computer Sciences or related areas
10+ years of relevant project or program management experience, Big 4 experience preferable or industry experience
MBA or CPA, ACCA, ACA, CMA, CISA or other appropriate professional qualification(s) preferred
Project management education, training, and/or certification highly desirable, e.g. Project Management Institute (PMI) or PRINCE 2 certification
Strong practical knowledge and understanding of project and program management methodologies, systems and tools. Solid experience managing large programs or projects in both traditional waterfall and agile environments
Experience and/or significant familiarization with gas, electric, transmission, generation operations a plus
Strong presentation and writing skills, as this role will present to senior leaders
Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
