National Grid Principal Program Manager in Waltham, Massachusetts

About the Position:

The position’s primary focus is with P6 and works closely with Resource Planning and other key stakeholders of the Capital Portfolio.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Work in close liaison with Resource Planning and other key stakeholders of the Capital Portfolio to provide reporting that tracks milestones and other metrics that assists in the evaluation of resource decisions.

  • Primary point of contact for the group on all matters related to P6; works closely with Capital Delivery to ensure consistent application of required changes

  • Provide support for new P6 users

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in order to share best practice and understand and challenge business decisions.

  • Lead and/or assist with efforts in the area of work order life cycle metric development & tracking mechanisms

  • Lead and/or assist with efforts developing methods to track and report out capital work plan attainment

  • Assist with special projects and tasks as required

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related area and a minimum of 3 years of related experience

  • Experience of fact finding including knowledge and understanding of where to find and how to present relevant information.

  • Advanced analytical skills with competencies to transfer data between software systems, and ability to develop complex business reports in project management systems and other software tools.

  • Working knowledge and experience in program management principles, tools and techniques.

  • Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).

  • Project management software knowledge a plus. (Primavera P6)

  • Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices.

  • Familiar with Transmission and Distribution line and substation construction is a plus.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.

  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to travel to divisional offices and other locations as required.
