Job Purpose

As a leading electricity, natural gas, and clean energy delivery company serving more than 20 million people across New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, National Grid is committed to helping achieve the climate and decarbonization goals of an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The transportation team within the Customer organization group is focused on reducing emissions from vehicles, which remain stubbornly above 1990 levels. We have a goal of reaching 10 million zero emission vehicles on Northeast US roads by 2030, accounting for roughly 50% of all vehicles. Achieving this ambitious goal will require a massive transformation over the next ten years.

This role reports directly to the Director of Clean Transportation, spanning Residential and Fleet/Commercial programs and will be focused on strategy, policy, new product development, analysis, and execution. This is a new role on a new team and responsibilities will likely evolve over time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Brings new clean transportation products to market in support of National Grid’s electric vehicle and other clean transportation priorities by analyzing customer insights, market conditions, regulatory environments, proposed product requirements and product development needs.

  • Works with the Customer Strategy team to understand customers' needs and desires by specifying the research required to obtain market information.

  • Works to build partnerships across the clean transportation space with OEMs, charging infrastructure providers, other utilities, and industry associations.

  • Tracks industry progress and transportation policy across geographies and progress on company transportation goals.

  • Works cross-functionally with marketing, engineering, IT, regulatory, and other functional groups to design, deliver and scale products. Delivers on time and on budget.

  • Supports products from the start-up phase to maturity with collaborative oversight and training; provides ongoing program support as necessary throughout program lifecycles.

  • Ensures the effectiveness of existing products and services in the marketplace and establishes continuous improvement actions to correct any issues that might be preventing the full development of a product or a service.

  • Collaborates with the National Grid Partnerships team to make investment recommendations within the transportation category to ensure there is a healthy portfolio of existing products and services as well as a robust pipeline of new ideas for future products and services.

  • Develops business plans and financial models around new transportation offerings and to extend the existing business utility business model.

  • Participates in regulatory filings, including developing testimony and responding to information requests.

  • Participates in internal and external industry forums to advance conversation and policy relevant to clean transportation.

  • Ensures thatTransportationproducts and services support the company’s overall strategy and goals. Also ensures that those products and services are meeting the expectations of regulators and stakeholders.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

Qualifications

  • This role requires driving, a valid driver's license is required and a safe driving record that meets Naitonal Grid safety standards

  • Exceptional communication and teamworking skills

  • Ability to think creatively and find unique solutions to complex issues

  • Experience with developing and interpreting financial forecasts and business models

  • Experience working collaboratively across multiple cross-functional groups to deliver results

  • Ability to synthesize diverse inputs and translate customer needs and market conditions into solutions, balancing the value of different solutions; understands how best to utilize them and drive greater performance, considering the wider business context

  • Experience in clean energy and/or transportation is strongly preferred

  • Knowledge and experience of utility regulation preferred

  • Well-organized and able to balance competing priorities

  • Ability to be detail oriented and focus on the big picture

  • BA or BS required, Masters degree preferred
