About the Graduate Development Program
National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is an in-depth training and development program for high achieving recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry.Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 8-week Orientation which gives you exposure to all part of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US.
Following Orientation, Graduates begin working in their hired position. Additionally, all Graduates will develop leadership skills through quarterly development session and a Capstone Project at the completion of your first year with National Grid. You will meet amazing individuals, both within our organization and local communities and will be assigned a mentor who will provide guidance and insight to help you start and progress in your career.
About the Position
Provide analytical support functions and be a part of a professional team responsible for analyzing data and activities to provide relevant and up-to-date information to support decision-making. As an Analyst in our Project Controls group you will also track financial forecasts, initiate reports for senior management and jurisdictional reviews, and update project status for Operations.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Proactively research, produce, monitor and analyze cost, policy or other information to enable analysis of key themes and trends.
Manage key external relationships with respect to any data provided for business decision making.
Drive adherence to the monthly forecast cycle with external stakeholders.
Develop process and policy specifications and criteria and options; evaluate those options to support senior management decision-making.
Research and analyze key themes from a wide range of data sources in order to identify how different scenarios may impact the business.
Translate business objectives into clearly defined business cases, annual plans and objectives in order to support achievement of departmental/operational area.
Contribute to the identification and formulation of strategic objectives specific to area of work/business unit, in order to drive change and innovation within National Grid.
Develop and utilize peer group network of Program and Project Managers in order to absorb and apply technical/professional best practice within own area of specialism.
Monitor and control allocated resources, maintaining financial and progress forecasting in order to ensure projects are delivered according to schedule and within budget.
Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Business/Finance from an accredited institution
Graduated between May 2018 and May 2019
Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program June 3, 2019
Valid driver’s license with safe driving history
Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation is a plus.
Excellent proficiency in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access; Business Intelligence and/or Business Objects.
Primavera, PowerPlant, and SAP experience is a plus.
Proven leadership experience in at least/one/of the following:
o College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics).
o Leadership and/or volunteer experience, in and/or out of the college environment
o Experienced a full or part-time job while at college and acquired relevant work experience
