National Grid Domain Architect, Financial, Shared Services & Corporate (FSS&C) in Waltham, Massachusetts
_About the Position:_
TheFinancial, Shared Services and Corporate (FSS&C)**Domain Architect (DA) will be part of the Architecture Center of Excellence (CoE),providing technical expertise to IT and business teams by identifying technology solutions and strategies related to the core ERP and Billing Systems.
_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_
The Domain Architect will be responsible for establishing current and long-range direction of technology aimed at keeping the organization on the forefront of change. The DA will maintain a technology roadmap for the associated domain that enables business outcomes and will be able to reliably forecast business needs in the 3-5-year horizon.
In addition, the DA will provide comprehensive consultation to business units, IT management and staff while operating with minimal supervision. As a core member of the architecture team and a technical thought leader within the organization, the domain architect will provide leadership, direction and guidance to Information Services (IS) practitioners operating within the FSS&C domain. The DA will analyse and assess business strategies, technology trends and organizational capabilities ensuring current and future state solutions align with the enterprise architecture. The DA will also provide direction, guidance and oversight for solution architectures and technical products proposed by the Solution Architecture team.
Responsible for solving complex technology problems in collaboration with Solution Architects.
Will lead a team of Solution architects, work closely with functional experts, Vice Presidents of End-to-End processes (e.g. Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Hire to Retire, Financial Reporting), as well as, with project delivery teams.
Will ensure appropriate implementation and compliance of technology for their domain.
Will provide Investment planning cycle support for all initiatives that are related to FSS&C.
Responsible for technical innovations and solutions for complex application development requests.
Will Provide technological expertise and advice to IT leadership in the development of strategic information technology plans to support business strategies.
_Specific Knowledge & Experience includes:_
Understanding of business context, key processes and emerging technologies that will transform the utilities industry and the organization
Expertise in designing and developing enterprise-wide architecture and strategy within the FSS&C domain in alignment with the business strategy. The target architecture will potentially address all aspects of the business operating model, including Business, Information, Application, and Technology Architecture domains, or a subset of these aspects as required, and must demonstrate traceability back to agreed business objectives through a coherent set of design decisions.
Experience producing an economic business cases, case for change literature.
Experience in Investment planning cycle support for FSS&C domain is preferred
Experience in providing architecture guidance and support for Data Management functions
Experience in working with common Enterprise Architecture toolsets (e.g. Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect, IBM Rational System Architect, etc.)
Experience in management of architecture governance within FSS&C domain.
Expertise in defining solution architectures for key projects within the FSS&C domain, focusing largely on alignment with business strategies and enterprise architecture roadmaps and standards.
Ability to discuss, define, and monitor key requirements with business units.
Collaboration with other Domain and Solution architects to implement efficient, cost-effective, high performing solutions.
Ability to support application development and support teams by effectively defining solution architectures, and ensuring architecture risks are appropriately mitigated prior to production deployment.
Comprehensive understanding of change management techniques associated with new technology implementation.
Proficient with Visio, MS Project, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
_Technology & Architecture:_
Prior experience developing application architecture processes, techniques, architecture strategy, and policies from beginning through delivery.
Strong technical skills around vendor product selection, software and technology analysis, business analytics, service oriented architecture and convergence of cross utility functions.
Strong experience developing technical standards.
Software, system or technology engineering experience at highest level of proficiency.
Experience with Salesforce CRM
Experience with architecting the replacement and rationalization of legacy utility billing systems with market leading providers (e.g.SAP IS-U/CCS CR&B, Oracle Utilities CC&B, etc.)
Working knowledge of Mobility, Cloud, Integration, Network and Security architectures and supporting services

Demonstrated experience with developing solution architecture and conceptual and logical system design for large scale programs and project in the Customer System Domain.
Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT, vendor and business management.
Minimum 8 to 10 years’ experience in diverse IT domains, with a focus around electric utility functions, customer, grid and real time domains.
Ability to function at both the detail and conceptual levels.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Enterprise Architecture or Technology Management Certification (preferred).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (required).
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (preferred).
