* National Grid is hiring a Director, Risk, Control and Compliance for our Finance organization in Waltham, Massachusetts.*
Finance's Director, Risk, Control and Compliance (RCC)is responsible for the direction and oversight of the Governance Risk and Compliance, Controls Advisory, and Data Management BMS teams. Focus is to manage and coordinate all governance and compliance requirements for Finance and developing and implementing guidance, support and education of controls initiatives across the first line of defence (control owners) in the US business. Supports Finance in relation to the annual compliance requirements, SOx program, controls initiatives, business projects, and coordination of remediation plans for financial and non-financial controls.
Provide advisory and consultative services to process and control owners on the design and implementation of controls to support the internal control framework
Maintain appropriate independence from management to provide assurance over controls deployed, iidentifying process and control gaps and recommending remediation plans and improvement opportunities
Provide insight and recommendations for process improvements, including articulating interrelationships between IT application risks, technology, and financial statement risks and processes
Supports the first line and implementation teams with defining sufficient controls for new projects including stakeholder sign-off on control design, UAT and testing prior to go-live
Collaborateswith process owners and others to build knowledge and understanding of risks and controls
Provides guidance and education on the design and optimization of controls
Establishes, maintains and enforce control documentation standards
Provide input to Group SOx Instructions and annual SOx testing plan to ensure successful coordination and delivery
Strong understanding of common assurance / audit tools and techniques and familiarity with relevant assurance related terminology and concepts
Strong understanding of financial and non-financial controls assessment techniques andIT general and infrastructure controls
Risk management expertise including Enterprise Risk Management principles and practical application to identify key risk areas and key mitigating controls
Highly developed financial controls assurance skills
Experienced in end-to-end process and control documentation to drive continuous improvement
IFRS, US GAAP, SEC and SOX requirements,FERC and other regulatory requirements
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 10 years in finance roles with increasing responsibility; previous experience as Controller or Business unit Finance activities that show progressive growth and proven effectiveness
Experience in multiple finance disciplines such as regulatory, compliance, corporate finance or finance operations and experience leading operational work streams by engaging others, developing and implementing efficiencies in tandem with key relationships
