About us
Job Purpose
To provide strategic and tactical employee communication consultancy, advice, support and resources to support the achievement of corporate objectives and the delivery of corporate messages.
Key Accountabilities
Provide leadership for strategic communications as well as stakeholder engagement guidance and counsel and ensure that all relevant teams support the delivery of the strategic ambitions and business objectives.
Lead the development and delivery of a best-practice communications strategy and plan for both internal and external communications activities, ensuring that this accounts for all stakeholders.
Effectively identify, track and manage reputation risks and opportunities and ensure that crisis communications processes are in place and well-practiced.
Drive the execution of the communications strategy and plan to achieve results, ensuring all audiences and stakeholders are considered.
Translate National Grid’s strategic priorities into clear employee communication and engagement strategies targeted at global internal audiences to support the delivery of the business plan within the context of line of sight and the corporate brand strategy.
Design and deliver executive and leadership communication globally to promote the development of the National Grid leadership team as a strong, integrated, visible international leadership community.
Own, maintain, develop and share the rolling annual employee communication plan and lead and develop the corporate employee communication team to facilitate continuous development and cross-skilling of team members to improve long term performance within the team.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Proactively build and maintain internal and external networks in order to access, absorb and apply technical and professional best practice.
Qualifications
Educated to degree level and/or with a professional qualification in a relevant discipline (business, communication, PR), ideally with demonstrable professional development
Significant in-house employee communication management and leadership experience, preferably in the utility sector
In-depth experience of developing and delivering corporate and strategic messages, and experience of channel direction and management
Proven experience of working at senior levels internally and externally with external media, agencies and industry bodies

$165,000 - $194,000
Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
