Accountable for the IS Asset Management (AM) and Vendor Billing (VB) function across the Global IS organization validating supplier spend and ensuring the maximum utilization of IS assets.

_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_

  • In relation to a portfolio of suppliers, is responsible for the liaison between National Grid and those supplier organizations, owning the relationship regarding the contracts, and enabling all communications to take place effectively and efficiently. Is a point of escalation for any issues or problems raised by the suppliers and is responsible for arbitration in situations of conflict.

  • Ensures that National Grid is aware of the terms and conditions of contracts as appropriate. Facilitates good communications between suppliers and National Grid.

  • Ensures that quantitative and qualitative data is collected and analyzed to monitor the suppliers’ performance against agreed service levels, publishes the results, and initiates actions based on results. Ensures proper monitoring of the contracts and recommends actions, including the enforcement of any penalty clauses, to bring contracts back into line or to terminate them.

  • Sets up and manages regular meetings to review performance and progress with major/strategic suppliers.

  • Makes significant contribution to the continuing economic and effective provision of services within an undertaking or major function by ensuring that appropriate and records of IT assets are accurately maintained.

  • Initiates, organizes and presents sound information and advice on issues such as maintenance of hardware assets, licensing of software, and legal obligations such as compliance with the Data Protection Act.

  • Ensures infrastructures for keeping accurate records of and controlling IT assets and changes, carrying out tasks such as planning and managing the introduction of IT asset control, in liaison with the configuration management function, auditing and reviewing the effectiveness and efficiency of IT asset control and distribution.

  • Maintains familiarity with, and uses international standards for software asset management.

  • Promotes awareness of and commitment to IT asset control and distribution responsibilities and benefits for National Grid.

Direct Reports:16 National Grid employees between US and UK.

Budget:Accountable for billing validation of over £100m and performance of IS contracts globally totaling £50m.

Business Relationships: Maintains relationships with senior managers across the National Grid region.

External Relationships:Maintains relationships at Senior Account level within supplier organizations to National Grid.

Internal Global IS Relationships:Maintains relationships with senior leaders including the Head of Service Delivery, Legal Teams and General Counsel, Shared Services and Finance, Taxation and Public Relations.

_Knowledge & Experience Required:_

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Significant experience in IS Asset Management and Billing management

  • Relevant industry certification (e.g. ITIL v3) desirable

  • Financial Management for IT

  • Supplier Relationship Management

  • Proficient in contract negotiations using methods and techniques for negotiating contracts for the supply of IT products and services.

  • Proficient in third party products and services supplied to National Grid.

  • Proficient in customer value chain concepts; the complete sequence of activities within a process, from receipt of an order or request to delivery of a product or service.

  • Proficient in the economics of service delivery such as the cost of hardware, software, and manpower used to deliver the service.

  • Proficient in configuration management, which gives precise control over IT assets by allowing IT management to maintain information about the “configuration items”, including hardware devices, computer programs, documentation, telecommunication services and computer center facilities required to deliver an IT service.
