NJR is seeking a Manager of Application Support provides strategic and operational leadership in the design, development and support of business applications. Troubleshoots complex technical issues and recommends solutions or services that align with customer needs, including recommending or applying system modifications designed to maintain, restore or enhance business applications. Work closely with the internal business and the IT leadership team to effectively translate business strategy and objectives into technological capability, while collaborating with Architecture to assure technological compatibility are compliance with the architectural road map. Drive strategy and manage resources (both internal and external) ensure best in class solutions that are of high quality and sustainable.

Major Responsibilities:• Perform functional reviews, technical high-level and detail-level design, and oversee projects implementation from start to finish• Provide leadership for projects as assigned, identifying required work, timelines, and tasks• Analyze requirements, design, specify, develop, test and document customized solutions using development tool• Closely work with vendor partners to resolve issues related to systems software• Help users to quickly resolve issue and determine where changes need to be made to resolve root cause• Responsible for managing the design, development and implementation of software solutions and the platform upon which those solutions are developed and deployed• Mange the application support team and allocates resources within the team, ensuring all issues are resolved based on business priorities• Establish and maintain application support objectives based on strategic departmental initiatives, using best practices in application support management processes and participating as a principal in the development of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes, with a focus on quality assurance, testing, and production acceptance• Provides business application support and maintenance, including advance technical troubleshooting, analysis of potential technology solutions, reporting, patching, and coordination of vendor support• Serves as the application expert for the business by learning every aspect of the enterprise• Work closely with senior management on major initiatives and designing business solutions• Keep current with IT trends and application industries and advise accordingly• Work and manage third-party developers to provide support for the business• Provide day-to-day management of release schedules• Design and implement applications solutions that meet business SLAs• Work with the Director of Application to set the strategic direction for the enterprise applications architecture and incorporate integration direction• Work closely with NJR Business Leads to determine strategy and priorities and ensure the team meets the needs identified• Manage teams with respect to resource management, project scheduling, technical direction, strategic planning, and standard development practices• Hire, coach, and mentor professional staff, conduct performance evaluations, manage performance of the team’s goals and objectives• Conduct diagnostic investigations of program errors and implement or recommend solutions or methodologies for resolution• Act as a technical escalation point person for development issues and assist with the resolution of problems that are more challenging or complex in nature• Coordinate infrastructure needs with the Operations teams including: DevOps, DBAs, QA, Technical Support and others to configure and maintain development, test and production environments• Develop, review, manage, execute and test SOX and IT Computer Control processes

Position Specifications: (Required)• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, business management or related studies or equivalent work experience. MBA is a plus• A minimum of eight years of experience in information systems/technology, or related field• A minimum of five years managing teams of three or more including staff and or contractors• Knowledge of web services, .net, stored procedures, xml, Java and JEE, Oracle, Sequel/Indexes• Experience developing and/or managing formal SDLCs• Experience in Change Management software solutions• Exposure with Oracle, Sequel, DB2, Access database environments• Possess a solid understanding of problem management methodologies. Proven experience and competency in application development and integration, IT governance and project management, internal/external solution development, IT Shared Services models• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate a high degree of initiative with minimal direct supervision• Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills with a strong focus on leadership and customer satisfaction• Utility Industry Experience preferred• Knowledge of Oracle ERP, CRM, CX, WAM and Energy trading desired• Desire certifications in any of the following: PMP, ITIL, Six Sigma, Lean or similar.
