SUMMARY

Directs the activities of the Projects Planning Implementation organization. Manages and oversees the planning and implementation of area projects and resources. Manages resources to fulfill department and station project goals and to assure proper implementation and application of corporate policy and guidelines. This position will represent the department on internal work teams and committees and represent the Company with external entities. Manages projects ensuring that Station, Management and Regulatory commitments and requirements are met. This position will manage and develop team resources and ensure overall effective and efficient operations of assigned area.

Option

The Manager of Major Projects is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and completion of complex nuclear projects, including upgrades, new builds, decommissioning, or regulatory compliance initiatives. The role involves managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring strict adherence to nuclear safety, regulatory standards, budget, and schedule requirements.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction. (Preferred)

• Without a degree, 10 years’ experience in Engineering or Construction may be considered.

EXPERIENCE

• 10 years’ experience in Engineering, Projects or Construction Project activities or maintenance (Required).

• 3 years of supervisor or management experience (Preferred)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• Project Management Certification (PMP) (Required)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

MAJOR PROJECTS MANAGEMENT:

Manages and oversees the planning and implementation of area projects and manages associated project resources.

• Evaluates personnel and outside contractors and managing contractors through all phases of projects. Assures Quality standards and compliance factors are met during all projects.

• Develops Budgets and work plans for ongoing and future expenses and monitors budget performance. Evaluates ad approves contracts and coordinates supplies needed through Supply Chain processes.

• Provides technical and team leadership in the critical areas of technical training and knowledge transfer. Creates and fosters the proper technical conscience by communicating and enforcing standards.

• Represents department on internal work teams and committees and represents the company with external entities.

• Oversees department’s CAP program. Establishes a timeline to close open items.

Option

• Lead the delivery of nuclear-related projects from initiation through completion, including scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk management.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable nuclear regulatory standards (e.g., NRC, CNSC, IAEA). (will change to NRC & INPO?)

• Collaborate with engineering, licensing, operations, and quality assurance teams to ensure project alignment with operational and regulatory goals.

• Develop detailed project execution plans, resource strategies, and risk mitigation plans.

• Oversee procurement and contractor management in accordance with nuclear quality assurance programs (e.g., NQA-1).

• Maintain high standards of nuclear safety culture throughout project execution.

• Interface with external stakeholders, including regulators, vendors, community groups, and joint venture partners.

• Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.

• Support business development efforts through proposal development and technical presentations when needed.

FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Maintains fiscal records and procedures of the department to ensure effective and efficient operations.

• Understands and manages to financial and budget targets. Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions.

• Proactively monitors and interprets ongoing financial performance and responds strategically.

• Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions and takes accountability for financial decisions within area.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

Performs people management.

• Prepares and delivers oral and written communications relating to work group and station activities (e.g., reports, presentations, department meetings).

• Monitors work group reports and recommendations to assure evaluations, assessments and support are effectively developed and communicated.

• Develops and maintains appropriate technical expertise within the work group to ensure adequate talent to perform meaningful assessments and program oversight.

• Represents department/company on internal work teams and committees and with external entities.

• Maintains composure in high stress or adverse situations.

• Understands and implements company policies.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of design, operations, maintenance and testing, in the nuclear power industry.

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for surveillance testing, in-service testing, and plant modifications.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accept ERO position as needed.

• Accept outage position as needed.

• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.

• Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.

• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.

• Travel may be required.

• May be required to carry phone.

WORK LOCATION

• Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
