SUMMARY

Provides professional accounting support for STP to ensure that the financial effects of the Company's operations are accurately recorded in a timely manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and in compliance with regulatory, state and federal requirements. Receives, researches and responds to written, oral or telephone requests for accounting, financial or tax information from sources either internal or external to the company.

EDUCATION

•Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field (Required)•Masters degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or qualified to sit for CPA exam (Preferred)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNTANT STAFF I-II:

•Ensures the financial effects of the Company's operations are accurately recorded in a timely manner in accordance with generally accepted accountingprinciples (GAAP) and in compliance with regulatory, state and federal requirements.

•Records journal entries and prepares/maintains supporting schedules

•Supports month end close by recording journal entries, preparing reports, and managing time to meet deadlines

•Reviews, analyzes and reconciles account balances/activity. Resolves any issues or discrepancies.

•Prepares memorandums or other written correspondence as needed.

•Provides information, reports, and forms to auditors, owners, various governmental agencies, and other outside organizations; ensures proper retention of company records.

ACCOUNTANT STAFF III-SENIOR STAFF:

•Has full ownership and oversight of one or more of the accounting functions (e.g., Accounts Payable, Fuel, Benefits)

•Ensures that the financial transactions of the Company's operations are accurately recorded in a timely manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and in compliance with regulatory, state, and federal requirements.

•Records, reviews, and posts journal entries and prepares/maintains supporting schedules

•Supports month end close by recording journal entries, preparing reports, and managing time to meet deadlines. May be required to serve as close coordinator.

•Develops and reviews schedules, documents, procedures, and controls for accuracy and takes appropriate action.

•Prioritizes, schedules and monitors accounting activities of self and coworkers.

•Creates, maintains and distributes accounting documents, manuals, charts, lists, guides and forecasts.

•Prepares and delivers oral and written communications to all levels of management relating to issues that impact various facets of accounting.

•Reviews, analyzes and reconciles account balances/activity and resolves and issues or discrepancies. Prepares variances analyses and projections.Resolves any issues or discrepancies.

•Analyzes information and collects and cross-references supporting documentation to prepare accounting schedules, documents, reports, and/or journal entries; prepares memorandums or other written correspondence as needed.

•Provides information, reports, and forms to auditors, owners, various governmental agencies, and other outside organizations; ensures proper retention of company records.

•Coaches less experienced employees in a constructive manner and emphasizes the importance of teamwork. Encourages candid and open feedback. Helps maintain an atmosphere where teammates feel appreciated and empowered.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

•Accept ERO position as needed.

•Accept outage position as needed.

•Receive, research and respond to written or verbal requests for accounting, financial or tax information from sources either internal or external to the company

•Research accounting, tax and regulatory issues and corporate policies & develop appropriate recommendations

•Comply with NRC Fatigue Rules, STP policies and procedures, accounting policies and guides and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

•Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.

•Strong knowledge of Accounting Theory and Principles. Ability to read and interpret accounting codes and tax laws, good analytical abilities

•Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

•Ability and flexibility to adapt to new situations, exercise sound judgement and work independently.

EXPERIENCE

•2 Years + full-time experience acquired in a broad range of operations such as Accounting, SOX, Project Controls, Budgeting, Finance, etc., Public Utility and 'Big Four' or other public accounting experience (Required)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

•Certified Public Accountant (Preferred)

Accountant Staff III - 4537

EXPERIENCE

•4 Years + full-time experience acquired in a broad range of operations such as Accounting, SOX, Project Controls, Budgeting, Finance, etc., Public Utility and 'Big Four' or other public accounting experience (Required)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

•Certified Public Accountant (Preferred)

Accountant Sr Staff - 4538

EXPERIENCE

•5 Years + full-time experience acquired in a broad range of operations such as Accounting, SOX, Project Controls, Budgeting, Finance, etc., Public Utility and 'Big Four' or other public accounting experience (Required)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

•Certified Public Accountant (Preferred)
