PAY RANGE: $83,400 - $104,200

Scheduled Work Hours:

Rotating days & evenings.

Job requires on call duty and unscheduled work hours.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision of the Manager, Distribution System Operations, oversees the System Operating Authority responsibility of the distribution system. This position directs and coordinates the dispatch of electric trouble, service orders and switching to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment; communicates problems to other departments, assists in the prioritization of work.

Also responsible for coordinating storm restoration efforts including monitoring of dispatched personnel and workload; includes reports to management concerning restoration efforts.

Has direct responsibility and authority to direct the work of the Wichita Service Operators and any support personnel necessary to the operation of the department.

This position also has indirect authority of the Distribution System Operators when the respective supervisor is out of the office.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a Technical degree in Power Systems or Operations Systems is highly preferred.

Requires at least five years’ experience in field operations, substation services, system operations or related utility experience.

Supervisory experience is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
•Experience in a control center environment in support of day-to-day electric operations is preferred.
•Experience in field operations including a general understanding of design & construction aspects.
•Experience with operational-based software systems such as Outage Management Systems (OMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Customer Information Systems (CIS), GIS, etc.

•Experience in the development and establishment of operational training processes/programs including system simulation & training is desirable.

•Must have the ability to operate in various computer operating/software systems and be adept at adopting new emergent technologies.
•Strong organizational skills, logical thought processes, and excellent written and verbal communications required.

•Ability to work with various technical workgroups within the company and effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.
•Must be able to positively motivate the workgroup(s) under his/her direction to support workgroup & corporate objectives.

•Ability to independently assess and prioritize workload for the group on a daily basis while directing the day-to-day electrical operations for the company.

•Must be able to identify and assess the needs of employees under their direction, recognizing individual skills and capabilities, providing support and direction accordingly.

•Must demonstrate strong leadership skills to provide deliberate guidance and direction for the work group.

•Must be able to assimilate various sources of information in a short amount of time while maintaining composure and focus, while directing the actions of others in times of crisis.
•Job requires strict adherence to Safety and System Operating procedures.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions:
Must be able to perform the physical activities of the job and have a satisfactory work record including good attendance. May require work outside of normal work hours in storm and/or high system outage situations.
