Job Description:

The Senior Associate, Carbon Removal is a key participant supporting AES’ Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) strategic initiative. In this dynamic role, the Senior Associate will actively support the team in business creation and business development activities, CDR technology validation and integration with renewables, and will take lead on certain aspects of early-stage project development and project/task management. The Senior Associate’s focus will be across multiple CDR project types at various stages of development and technologies at varying levels of Technology Readiness.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to think critically, take ownership and identify issues and opportunities in the rapidly emerging and increasingly complex Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) market.

Responsibilities:

  • Support various business creation tasks, including technical/market research and presentation creation/delivery for both internal and external stakeholders;

  • Support various programmatic administrative tasks;

  • Support various Commercial and Business Development tasks, including managing certain counterparty relationships and associated administrative tasks;

  • Lead certain aspects of Project Development and Project Management, including R&D projects and early-stage commercial projects;

  • Support/oversee multiple 3rd party contractors and vendors in various tasks, including Techno-Economic Assessments (TEA);

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across AES functional groups, including Commercial, Development, Ops, Legal, Finance, and Innovation.

  • 25% travel may be required!

Qualifications:

BS or above in carbon capture technologies, electrical/mechanical/chemical engineering, atmospheric sciences, or related field;

2+ years of experience working in carbon management, O&G, renewable energy, and/or emerging technology development/commercialization.

Skills, Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, P-Track, Salesforce, GIS or similar;

  • Demonstrated teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve objectives;

  • Self-starter with ability to perform at high level in remote work environment;

  • Ability to set and meet realistic deadlines;

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Highly motivated to commercialize emerging carbon removal technologies.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $105,000 and $131,750/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
