GENERAL SUMMARY
Supervise staff activities; provide leadership, independent engineering fundamentals and technical guidance. Engineering in support of design modification, operation, and independent assessment of Energy Northwest facilities, work management, and administration of a group comprised of a diverse discipline and expertise.
The responsibilities include the direct management of facility modifications and resolution of emergent facility problems, specialized support to other organizations, and the development of personnel. Additionally, provide input to the manager on budget, schedule, staffing. Non-Plant Fire protection oversight,
Monitoring, trending, and review of Fire Protection systems and planning that is required to support the reliable and efficient operation of the Columbia Generating Station (CGS), and support outside business activities. Apply sound supervisory principles and project management to attain high productivity and technical quality. Responsible for communicating and coordinating activities with various work groups to ensure timely completion.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide oversight of commercial engineering for facility modifications. This includes participation in the Facilities Project Review Committee and performs all aspects of Facilities non-plant Fire alarm systems and Life Safety job functions.
Direct the group’s resources toward support of safe, reliable, and economical facility operations, continued efforts to improve efficiency, and to increase availability and capability of supporting new business activities/jobs. Interfaces with all aspects of non-plant fire protection protocols, fire impairments and approvals.
Establish and maintain good working interfaces with groups of other disciplines within Facilities & Commercial Engineering Services (FCE) and with Operations, Maintenance, Design Engineering, Projects, and Supply Chain Services.
Accomplish the group’s chartered responsibilities by establishing goals and milestones, converting these into work assignments, and tracking them to completion.
Assist facility management personnel with preventative, corrective, and emergent work when required.
Additional supervisory accountabilities:
• Assign activities/tasks to the appropriate individuals(s). Delegate responsibilities and prepare delegations of authority as needed. Interface with regulatory agencies, State Fire Marshall as required.
• Provide supervisory overview and sponsorship of staff and various contractors/consultants utilized to support project activities to ensure technical adequacy and appropriate cost control. Assist with budget preparation and monitor budgets to ensure no overruns occur. Maintain Fire Protection records, logs and prepare for State audits. Act as Liaison for State Fire Marshall.
• Promote staff development by establishing and implementing a development plan for assigned subordinates. Ensure staff attends all required training. Assist and train subordinates, and ensure all workers are qualified in PQD.
• Prepare performance expectations and complete performance reviews for staff. Make recommendations regarding employment, promotions, salary changes, transfers, and terminations. Establish and monitor individual performance and training plans to provide critical feedback on a situational and periodic basis.
• Resolve personnel problems effectively.
Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated.
Must support the biennial refueling outage.
Must participate in the Facilities on call rotation.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related field, or a Professional Engineer (PE) license obtained by accredited examination.
Also requires six years of technical experience in facility/commercial/industrial design and/or facility/commercial/industrial construction/maintenance and experience in interpreting engineering documents and specifications.
Pay Range:
Salary: $124,510 - $186,764
$155,637 midpoint
Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

This role is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
