Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others. Implements established marketing programs to retain existing core energy customers and to increase our customer base through the marketing and sale of utility services to economically feasible expansion areas. Provides expertise and support for existing and prospective residential and commercial customers while promoting energy sustainability, conservation and demand-side management. Maintains close contact with area architects, developers, engineers, heating dealers, building contractors and the general public. Under the direction of department staff, assists with rate and cost comparisons and other functions to support industrial customers. Job Responsibilities for Energy Services Representative 1. Seeks out and solicits new or conversion load customers within assigned territory. Prepares feasibility studies and works with the Manager of Energy Services to negotiate extensions and expedite the approval process. 2. Develops and maintains contacts with existing customers, local builders, developers, trade allies, businesses, economic and community development organizations and Chamber of Commerce groups. 3. Formulates and presents informational and sales programs to groups and public organizations concerning energy prices, utility issues and non-utility products and services. 4. Organizes and participates in homebuilder and other trade shows in assigned territory to educate and promote Company products, services and safety of natural gas and or electric. 5. Provides accurate information to existing and potential customers regarding current rates, terms and conditions of Company rate tariffs applicable to the energy being provided. 6. Coordinates with developers, homeowners and Company operations personnel to prepare feasibility studies, negotiate extensions and expedite the approval process. This will result in energy extensions into new and conversion areas with the addition of new customers. 7. Gathers and maintains local market intelligence on all competitive energy providers operating in the area. 8. Assists District and Region management with special projects to enhance Company image, public relations and increased exposure to our customer base. 9. Handles information requests from customers pertaining to a wide range of topics such as energy conservation, energy use, various types of energy applications, green and alternate forms of energy, products and services provided, billing questions, high bill complaints, various rates that may be available to customers, gather measurement and metering data, etc. 10. Provides assistance to customers and key stakeholders in energy conservation related matters to increase participation in the Company’s energy efficiency programs. 11. Additional Job Responsibilities for Energy Services Representative Sr include: * Provides accurate information to existing and potential customers regarding current rates, terms and conditions of Company rate tariffs applicable to the energy being provided. Maintains knowledge and expertise of new technologies and industry trends. * Provides in depth analysis, support, and assistance to Industrial Services Managers on more complex large-volume customer projects within assigned territory. * Provides leadership and guidance, assists with training, and acts as subject matter expert to Energy Service Representatives. * Handles information requests from customers pertaining to a wide range of topics such as energy conservation, energy use, various types of energy applications, green and alternate forms of energy, products and services provided, billing questions, high bill complaints, various rates that may be available to customers, gather measurement and metering data, etc. * This position exists in various locations and specific duties may vary by location. * Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned. # Minimum Qualifications: Energy Services Representative: * Must possess a working knowledge of marketing and energy concepts and principles at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in business administration or marketing and * Three years’ related experience Energy Services Representative Sr: * Must possess a working knowledge of marketing and energy concepts and principles at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in business administration or marketing. * Five years’ related experience with two years being in a utility environment. # Additional Requirements This position is assigned a Company vehicle. * Required to maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record. # Key Skills & Competencies * Demonstrated knowledge of Company main extension procedures, applicable rates and tariffs, and industrial contracts * Understanding of gas distribution standards, design, and field operations * Must possess a broad understanding of construction practices leading to an ability to accurately estimate the cost of complex growth projects. * Requires strong marketing, sales and negotiating skills and the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships within the community. * Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills. * Analytical, creative and strong written and oral communication and presentation skills. * Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment. * Demonstrated knowledge of energy information technology * Proficient in the operation and use of personal computer applications including the Microsoft Office suite of products. # Preferred Qualifications * Prior gas and/or electric utility experience.
