GENERAL SUMMARY Compiles, analyzes, and interprets company financial data for a broad range of projects, including the computation and design of rates charged to different customer classes. Prepares and presents information for internal decision making and filings with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others. # Minimum Qualifications: Regulatory Analyst I: * Must possess a working knowledge of business principles and theory at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, engineering, or related field. Regulatory Analyst II: * In addition to the above, two years’ experience as a Regulatory Analyst I or equivalent experience in rates and regulations of public utility or natural gas pipeline industry or related field. Other Requirements for Regulatory Analyst I/II: May be required to maintain a valid driver’s license. # Job Responsibilities * Conducts research and analysis for a broad range of projects. Gathers, validates and enters data and runs reports on various computer systems. * Assists with and prepares rate case components which may include revenue requirement, weather normalization, cost of service data and marginal and embedded class cost of service studies, and rate design. Analyze and interpret company financial and statistical data used in all studies. * Prepares supporting information for purchased gas cost adjustments, fuel cost adjustments, and other tracking adjustments. * Prepares and files monthly and annual reports to Commission. * Assists with the preparation and presentation of expert testimony before the Commission and legislative bodies. * Prepares responses to data requests related to filings before the Commission. * Assists with testing the billing system (rate file) to accommodate new rate structures and to assure accurate consumer billing under approved tariffs. * Develops, analyzes and researches rate policies, including new innovative scenarios. Assists in the development of rate strategies and the design that will optimize company profitability. * Monitors, reviews and analyzes federal and state regulatory requirements and industry issues and keeps manager(s) apprised of findings. * Oversees regulatory section of the website to verify accuracy and timeliness of information; coordinates the updating of tariff and regulatory filing information on the company website as necessary. * Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned. # Key Skills & Competencies * Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills. * Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. * Self-motivated with ability to work with minimum supervision and able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with internal and external customers. * Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications. * Must maintain highly confidential and sensitive information. # Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. * Strong accounting and analytical experience preferred * Natural gas industry experience preferred # How To Apply Apply online at jobs.mdu.com Company: Intermountain Gas Company Department: Regulatory Affairs Location: Boise, ID Hiring Manager: Jacob A Darrington Closing Date: 05/23/2021 at 11:59pm CDT Job Type: Full-Time
