Job Summary:

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others. Provides leadership and supervision to the Corrosion Control Technicians and/or district personnel to ensure the Corrosion Team is meeting the Company’s day-to-day strategic goals and objectives. Performs data collection, design, trouble-shooting and supervision of field operations and maintenance of the Company’s cathodic protection (CP) and corrosion control systems. Oversees and performs complex CP testing, maintenance, design and direct assessment/data collection. Evaluates effectiveness of CP and corrosion control systems and initiates maintenance, replacements or enhancements when required. Performs, directs and evaluates the results of External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) surveys in support of Company’s Integrity Management System.

This position can be located in Kennewick, WA or our other service locations in WA but we may consider other remote work locations within WA or OR.

Job Responsibilities: 1. Provides supervision and leadership to Corrosion Control Technicians and other personnel performing corrosion control work. 2. Monitors and ensures corrosion related compliance dates do not exceed Company policy or state and federal regulations. 3. Provides design of cathodic protection and corrosion control systems utilizing NACE principles. 4. Implements approved corrosion control methods as specified by Company standards. 5. Prepares and maintains all required documentation in accordance with Company policies and procedures. 6. Reviews preconstruction drawings and proposed corrosion control for new steel pipelines. 7. Troubleshoots cathodic protection systems for all natural gas systems Company wide. 8. Inspects cathodic protection facilities, either personally or through district personnel and initiates maintenance, repairs or replacements when required, ensuring optimum cathodic protection performance. 9. Perform internal and external corrosion analysis. 10. Advises and directs personnel in analysis of cathodic protection trouble-shooting and repairs. Assists in making such analysis and repairs when technical problems occur. 11. Serves as project manager, overseeing construction or installation of cathodic protection systems. 12. Collects ECDA survey data and provides input to refine and improve Company ECDA and Integrity Management plans. 13. Investigates potential interference from third party facilities and initiates corrective action when required. 14. Supports management during audits concerning matters related to corrosion control. 15. Performs and/or supervises the testing and inspection of cathodic protection facilities and circuits. 16. Generates timely and efficient work schedules for Corrosion Technicians. 17. Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a working knowledge of corrosion control and cathodic protection at a level normally acquired through completion of a two-year technical degree.

  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in the cathodic protection or corrosion control field, preferably in pipeline corrosion control.

  • Dependent upon position, must have successfully completed NACE CP Level 2/or NACE CP Level 3 certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with designing and installing AC mitigation on pipelines co-located in high voltage power corridors.

  • NACE; Cathodic Protection Technologist or Specialist certification (CP3 or CP4).

  • Experience reviewing utility project plans in relation to corrosion control requirements.

Other Requirements:

  • Required to maintain a valid driver’s license.
