Job Summary: GENERAL SUMMARY/PRIMARY FUNCTION Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Provide overall administrative and technical management on assigned project from bid preparation through final acceptance by client. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Assist Project Manager in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, and arranging for assignment of project personnel. 2. Assist in total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, codes & standards, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, other contractors, etc. 3. The focus will be to assist in accomplishing project goals and objectives on time and within budget. Performs duties under the functional direction of a more senior project manager, with their direct supervisor being the assigned manager. Duties may be performed in either an office or field office environment. Specific tasks of the job may vary depending on project, location and available staff. 4. Advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties. Assist in circumventing and/or resolving such problems, as assigned. 5. Assist with project planning, scheduling, purchasing, reporting, tracking and safety. 6. Perform tasks required to assist in the development and maintenance of budgets for a portion of a project. Includes coding timesheets, invoices, etc., collecting actual quantities installed, monitoring progress per cost account, identifying potential cost overruns, etc. 7. Perform cost control and/or estimating assignments. 8. Assist with or update construction forecast to reflect most accurate current cost and estimate information. 9. Assist in analyzing work progress and developing craft productivity reports to document cost/budget activity. 10. Calculate or prepare various comparison reports, charts and tables for project analysis. 11. Assist in preparing special reports, studies, etc. requested by the client and/or project management. 12. Assist in management and issuance of subcontracts. 13. Assist with material procurement and coordination. 14. Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items, as required. 15. May provide supervision and/or on-the-job training to clerical personnel assigned to area of responsibility. 16. Perform additional duties as assigned. # Minimum Qualifications: JOB CRITERIA MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Educational and experience requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field. Equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience is also acceptable. Two or more years of construction management. Thorough knowledge of the all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, estimating, schedules and safety required. Must have safe driving record and a valid driver’s license according to legal requirements. KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential. Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Emphasis in traffic signals, street lighting, and/or intelligent transportation system projects preferred. Electrical project management preferred.
