Job Summary and Description:

Lead’s EPRI’s Nuclear Team in Europe. Manages European nuclear projects with emphasis on developing the priorities and strategy, deployment and development of EPRI staff and the financial success of the area(s). This role is key key in both relevant technical expertise and strategic engagement responsibility.. The Program Manager proactively promotes EPRI’s capabilities and programs with existing members, prospects and relevant stakeholders in the region. The Program Manager has a strong general knowledge of EPRI’s capabilities as well as a strong understanding of the local key political drivers and industry issues across all Europe and is very familiar with the European institutions and their frameworks of collaborations.

Manages EPRI’s European nuclear team. Maximizes technology transfer to existing program members, develops and maintains networks within the nuclear industry in Europe. Works together with other parts of the organization to engage new members and participants in EPRI’s programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works together with guidance providers in EPRI for program level succession strategies, hiring of staff, performance management, and development planning.

  • Identifies the most qualified internal staff and contractor teams to complete the work. Selects contractors, frames statements of work.

  • Directs the work of the team to assure technical and financial milestones are met.

  • Working with other parts of the organization, matrixed responsibility for employee selection, performance management, and development planning.

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.

  • Provides guidance to staff within the latitude of company policy.

  • Establish strong relationships at all appropriate decision-making levels within EPRI members in the region.

  • Understand members strategic issues, business objectives, unique needs and decision-making processes to understand the value EPRI can bring to them. Capture senior officers feedback to influence future EPRI product development.

  • Work together with the sector and M&TS in the region in the definition and actionability of the strategy aligning it with the overall European strategy.

  • Develop and maintain contact with key influencers, and decision makers in Europe, including members, research organizations, academia, Government and other stakeholders to be able to co-develop and contribute to the external outreach stakeholder part of the European Strategy

  • Support Sector and M&TS to make sure EPRI’s technology is effectively transferred to our members

  • Proactively capture value by documenting and communicating impacts and benefits as part of the strategy.

  • Coordinate EPRI Europe’s public funding activities in the region, including Horizon, Euratom and other frameworks

  • Support the Regional Managers to develop and execute on member, country and regional strategic plans, especially in the case of future prospects and countries entering Nuclear.

  • Active promotion of EPRI Nuclear activities in the region, supporting the external communications part of the strategy in the region and active representation in conferences.

  • Active participation and sector coordination of activities in stakeholder working groups, such as the SNETP or the Industrial Alliance at European level, or regional initiatives such as the CEIDEN and PEPRI platforms in Spain, the Italian Nuclear Platform, the Spanish Nuclear Society or the UK Nuclear Industry Association (NIA)

  • Act as an ambassador for EPRI regarding the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and management capability overseeing an R&D Program.

  • Responsible for funding, spending and workforce planning in program area.

  • Directly responsible for leading multiple staff including goal setting and performance management.

  • Proven people management experience with a strong grasp of the skills related to recruitment, hiring, people development, and retention.

  • Works directly with member advisors to ensure member engagement and guidance.

  • Presents, with a high degree of technical credibility, Program content, value and research results at member locations and with member leadership.

  • May present program activities to the Sector Council and other groups.

  • Has working knowledge of the various Sector programs, strategy and values, and aligns Program activities to support cross program participation.

  • Works without supervision.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education: Advanced degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.

Work Experience:

  • At least 15 years in the nuclear field.

  • Solid understanding of the nuclear industry. Evidence of having worked in projects with European utilities, and also projects with European Regulators and European Institutions. Such wide experience is condidered essential /valuable.

  • Good knowledge of the European Platforms and Alliances

  • Good practices/principles with the ability to drive the sales process from needs assessment to close

  • Ability to effectively engage at all levels within member organizations, European Institutions and other stakeholders

  • Ability to work toward common goals in a team atmosphere

  • Willing to travel approximately 50% of the time.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective presentation development and delivery skills.

  • Strong PC skills including the full Microsoft Office Suite.

EPRI is committed to complying with the regulatory framework governing export control, consisting of international treaties, U.S. laws, regulations and trade sanctions, and where applicable, foreign laws governing export control. These include the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Part 810 nuclear export regulations, and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). It is a critical requirement of this role that the successful candidate will have to work with export-controlled technology / information.
